Wouldnt even give it one star if 0 stars was an option! Very unhappy with the service I received at Charlottetown Midas. I am going to school here and had to bring my car somewhere to get the brake pads changed. I decided to go to Midas as I dont know any mechanics in the area and figured since they were a well known chain it would be a safe bet for good quality work on my car at a fair price. I was quoted $133.14 for new brake pads installed taxes and everything in. This seemed reasonable so I brought it in. They called an hour after dropping the car off and said the back brake pads needed to be changed as well and all of them together would cost around $400. That sounded reasonable as well so I said okay (even though when I had my oil changed at my mechanic he said I only needed my front ones done.) After talking to my family back home we realized I could have the front pads done and get our local mechanic to do the back ones as I was going home for thanksgiving anyways. I called back and requested just the front ones be done as we had wanted in the first place if he hadnt already started on the back and he said no problem, he was still working on the front and it would be done in an hour. When we went to pick it up the total came to $375. This is almost 3x the price of what I was quoted. As a student I do NOT have $250 to spend without having budgeted for it, and its VERY poor costumer service to quote one EXACT price and then triple it and make you pay it when you pick up the car. They also had a list of another $800 of other work that had to be done on it that would have gotten done had I not called back and requested ONLY the front as before. I also got charged $100 of labour to look at everything to tell me what else needed to be fixed!!! As I was planning on having my mechanic check it over thanksgiving, and seeing as how I brought it in for brakes and NOT a full car assessment it is totally unreasonable to charge me that amount for something I never asked for, nor agreed to. To make matters even worse when I called the store to ask why it ended up costing triple the price that it was supposed to I was talked to by the owner like an idiot who told me that they couldnt change the brake pads without doing all this extra work that needed to be done and I just dont know anything about cars and thats the way they are. (Bud, from Charlottetown Midas was on the phone and was EXTREMELY rude and obnoxious to me.) Even if that were the case, (which, after having my mechanic of 10 years back home look at it, WAS NOT.) it is totally unacceptable to talk to a costumer that way. I was upset that I was charged 3x what I was supposed to (as I think anyone would be, much less a student whos money is extremely tight and every penny counts) and he never did anything to resolve it, or offer any sort of apology or explanation aside from thats how cars work. He was also rude and unhelpful when I asked what my options were or if there was anyone else I could talk to, as he just said Im as high up as you can get, sorry I cant explain it to you, but thats just the way cars are. Ive owned my own car since I was 16, bought it myself and pay for everything on my own, and I have never been overcharged by so much or have dealt with a company with such terrible costumer service and as Ive moved around a bit, Ive dealt with a few! After getting overcharged and treated that way I will never be setting foot in ANY Midas again as well as spreading the word to everyone I know to stay away!

Contrary to the other post here, Ive had nothing but good service over several years at Midas. I am aware of what happened in the other review, and believe me the version told is very, VERY one sided, and leaves out several facts, all of which contributed to her situation. Leaving a poor review is pretty poor form on her part in this case. Either way, I have personally dealt with Bud and the other folks at Midas, and hes always been honest, thorough and straight to the point with me. He gives me fair prices and good service, so for me thats all I can really ask for. The repairs are high quality and he even gave me a lift to my office one day when my cars service was going to take longer than expected. Dont let one review fool you, and please take mine with the same grain of salt. Midas is one of two shops I use in the city (the other for electronics and big jobs), Hes done power steering, flushes, tires, oil changes etc, all have been excellent repairs. Give these guys a chance, you wont regret it.
