This past spring I bought brand new, very expensive tires from York Auto. On September 17, only 5 months after buying the tires, I brought my car in again for the annual inspection. The car passed inspection and I was told my car was in perfect condition. The individual at the counter actually remarked that my car was in fantastic shape, and I took note of that because wed had some recent issues with it and I was happy to hear that all looked well. A couple of days ago, my husband took my five month old tires off my car to put the winter tires on. The tires were worn to the point where they should have failed an inspection. He took out the winter tires out - same ware pattern, but not as worn. So, in the spring when they took my winter tires off they were noticeably, unevenly worn. The mechanic at York Auto didnt think to say anything when he put my new tires on; instead they just put my new, $370 a piece tires on without even considering mentioning that there was a problem causing uneven ware on my tires. So, they knew there was a problem that caused uneven tire wear, didnt mention it, put brand new tires on, and now Im out two tires from a brand new set. The response from York Auto was terrible; first they claim checking tire wear is not part of the inspection. Bull. He later agreed that yeah, checking tire wear is integral to passing inspection. Then the counter guy says he doesnt check over all his mechanics work so its not his problem. Then they try to say it must have been a recent problem, when we can look at the winter tires that they took off and see the same pattern and were not informed. Zero customer satisfaction, zero customer service, poorly done inspection passing a car with tires that are down to the wear bars. Then he went so far as to point out that Id had front end work done somewhere else and act put out that I didnt bring my vehicle to York to get the work done. I live 30 kms away so if my car cant safely be driven on the highway to York Auto, Im going to get the work done somewhere close to home. He also tried to claim that I made an appointment for an alignment and then didnt show up. Not true; the appointment was for tomorrow, not last week. I had trusted York Auto. I had recommended them to everyone who I heard ask about where to get work done. Now Im out money, tires, and a garage I thought I trusted.

We purchased a vehicle from this company back a few months ago, all was good at the time of purchase. It had a recent inspection before we purchased it and we was told it was a great vehicle. After 3000 kms over 2 months, the inside was worn off both rear tires and the transmission started slipping . Took it for a second opinion and was told it had a terrible rear alignment issue and badly worn out parts and needed parts replaced and possibly transmission replacement at a cost of $4000.. I spoke to someone there about it and they basically said they only offer a 30 day warranty and have a nice day. I will NEVER be back to this shop ever again. Very rude customer service after the sale, no offer to even help diagnose problems. Stay away from this York Auto in Fredericton. From what I understand they buy worn vehicles for low prices , fix only what needs fixing to make a sale and then resell it. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM !! HEARING LOTS OF NEGATIVE STORIES ALSO AROUND TOWN ABOUT THEIR SHODDY WORK AS WELL AND RIPOFF PRICES!!!

Owning a car is expensive. No one is disputing that. The worst thing a car owner can do, however, is to avoid routine maintenance like oil changes and alignments! The people at York Auto have been fantastic in the two years I have been coming here, and I credit Andy personally with finding and fixing an elusive persistent misfire on a car that a less competent mechanic may have run from: an eighteen year old Volvo that had sat for some time. When the time came for me to upgrade to a twelve year old Volvo, there was no one else I would consider buying from. Their service rates are on the low end of the spectrum for the market, and although you may have to wait a week to get in, it is well worth your time and loyalty to go to a quality service garage. Im always given the choice of what needs to be prioritized for my next visit, and an $80 alignment six months ago may have saved me $650+ in new tire costs. Your life is in the hands of the people responsible for the machinery you drive.

After dealing with many other dealerships in the city, we purchased our first Volvo in 2008 from Andrew because of how genuinely knowledgeable he is with not only Volvos and Subarus but with all makes and models. We have purchased and had all of our vehicles maintained at York auto ever since that day. They have saved us thousands of dollars by simply taking the extra step that very few repair stations are willing to do. Andrew is an excellent entrepreneur, mechanic and all around good guy. I have always and will always recommend York auto service to everybody I know because I have seen first hand how well Andrew, Lyle and Robert treat customers. They are always straight shooters with the utmost respect for anybody who walks through their doors and always take pride in their work.

I bought a 2007 impreza from them about 6 months ago and about 2 months later the head gaskets blew in it. So I brought it to another shop to get them replaced. $3600 dollars later I got my car back and about a week after that it started knocking. I brought it back into the shop and they said the car must have alot more kms on it then what the odometer says and they cant do anything because its knocking in the bottom end... So after buying the car for $7500 and putting way over $4000 into Im stuck paying for a dead horse. oh yeah, about a couple months of owning the car the rear quarter panels started rotting out. I would never recommend anyone buy anything from these guys.

York Auto is one of the best shops Ive been to in over 35 years of owning cars. Most recently we had an issue on a car where 2 different dealers for that car had got the diagnosis completely wrong and wanted to write off the engine. That didnt sit well with me and so I dropped by and described the problems to the guys at York and without hesitation they suggested what the problem might be. Without even seeing the car, they had nailed the diagnosis and they turned out to be exactly right. Instead of a $2500 fix it was less than $200. Their bills are always fair and reasonable, and they will get all my work forever.

Buying used can sometimes be a little unsettling for some, however Ive bought 3 used vehicle from York Auto. In those 3 experiences, Ive felt comfortable spending the cash on something used, also at a great savings compared to new. You can trust the sales department on pricing and knowledge about vehicles. The boys out back are awesome mechanics, and seem to know theyre way around just about anything. Great service ! Great staff. I wont be going anywhere else.
