Edit 12/20/16: Changed rating from one star to 3 stars. I went to the dealership hoping to speak to a manager. I was able to speak to one right away. He was very polite and we were able to clarify the huge misunderstanding that took place last week. Michael was able to get his deposit returned and is not paying for the remote starter install in the Fusion. DO NOT GO HERE OR ANY OTHER BIRCHWOOD DEALERSHIP! This is Michaels fiancee Arita writing this review. This is hands-down the worst customer service experience Ive ever had. Three days ago, we were in the dealership to look at a Ford Fusion. The first thing I wanted to know is how it would break down into a monthly price. Fast forward 3 hours, I finally receive a price and it is far over what we had budgeted for. Salesman says its not a problem and tacks on another 2 years to the term, which I was absolutely not interested in. I tell him I will just go with base model. He then proceeds to convince us to get a higher trim model because the base model has no power windows or touchscreen (looked online afterwards to find out he flat out lied to us about that!) After some conversation, we decide to go for the higher trim. Get a giant lecture about how we should buy winter tires, but we rejected the offer and asked for a remote starter instead. From there, we go to the Finance Managers office. He takes Michaels information, and explicitly states that HE WILL CALL US THE NEXT DAY WITH NEWS FROM THE BANK. We heard absolutely nothing that day. First thing this morning, Michael calls the dealership, and our salesman told him that he did speak to the Finance Manager on the phone.( I think we would know if we talked to him!!!! ) Not only that, but the Finance Manager himself tells Michael that they spoke and that we were waiting to find out if we could pick up the car today or tomorrow. WHAT?!? Apparently we are living in an alternate universe where Birchwood has these phone calls we were involved in. Things proceed to get worse. They have already installed the remote starter, without even so much as telling us that the bank has approved the loan and for what interest rate. We havent signed paperwork for the purchase of the vehicle. However, they think we should now pay $800 for this remote starter. Not only are we not paying for that, we are getting our deposit back and filing a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. This is not customer service. This is lying and harassment. As if this wasnt bad enough, one of our family members is receiving horrendous service at another Birchwood dealership, and I have had bad experiences with them in the past. However, what is happening at Birchwood Ford is absolutely ridiculous.

Update: August 10th 2017. After the awful experience I had at River City Ford, I really thought Birchwood Ford was different. I was wrong. I have come to the conclusion that my expectations from the dealer and the brand Ford, from whom I’ve bought not one, but two brand new vehicles in the past 3 years, are completely unreasonable. It is par for the course that when dealing with the Ford brand, expect no post sale service, no loyalty and no respect as a loyal customer.. Once is chance, twice is coincidence, third time is a pattern. So you will forgive me then if I don’t hang around for a third time after my current lease expires. ******************************************************************* I was ready to walk away from the brand Ford, after an appalling, nightmare experience at one of the other Ford dealers in the wonderful river city of Winnipeg. But I was persuaded by Amanda in Birchwood’s servicing department, to give Ford another try before trading in my 2014 Ford Escape. Amanda referred me to Malik in their sales department. At Birchwood we did not have to deal with the old bait-and-switch, or last minute previously unmentioned changes to fees / down payments, no deception, no false promises. Our sales consultant Malik, listened to our needs, made some suggestions and delivered on his commitment to us. No false promises, just straight honest answers. Trevor in finance was brilliant in providing all options available to us. A knowledgeable competent individual who was able to confidently point out the pro’s and cons of each financing option available to us, thus empowering us to make an educated decision. Dealing with Birchwood and Ford Finance was a pleasure. From Amanda in service, Malik in sales, Brent the sales manager and Trevor in finance. These are people I will build a relationship with. Thank you Birchwood Ford..

Salesman: John was great and did his best to work with me. This is not a review about him, he gets 5 stars. Dealership: I was to receive $400 off the $799 birchwood advantage. when i went into the finace managers office i noticed the error. she assured me that the $400 was coming off the total price. Well i didnt, i was rushed to finish everything up as she had another person waiting. the manager was not ready for me even though we had scheduled a time to finalize. Upon the next day of receiving my vehicle , i had noticed swirl marks in the paint all over. i told the dealer and the said they could buff it for me. They didnt do a proper PDI and charged me for it. All they offered was a buff to the paint they damaged. I then noticed that they charged me more than the ford site for my 2.7l engine option. I called and made them aware of the error. They made me feel like i was trying to screw them over. after Multiple calls they conceded and gave me a refund for the difference with no apology. 3 weeks later i had a screw in my tire(not birchwoods fault) I took it in to have it repaired at my cost as again i didnt get the birchwood advantage or so they said. They repaired the tire with a side of marring and scratching my new rim. I made them aware and even took a before picture just in case. They tried to have it repaired and i told them i wanted it replaced. later that week they removed a rim of a new vehicle in lot an replaced it for mine. no apology was given and made as if i was inconveniencing them. Not sure if this is what ford wanted as its representative. Poor experience overall. I have sent a letter to Ford Canada about the issues.

Experience started off pleasant enough and the sales person was very patient and asked a lot of questions. I gave what I thought were very specific answers for what I was looking for, my budget and the term for a used vehicle. Took truck for a test drive and liked it very much. When it came down to writing up an offer sheet it was like everything I said wet out the window, the trade in value was nowhere near what had been discussed with the sales person, the term was two years longer than I specified and the payment was over budget. I stated many times I didnt want to waste their time or mine and thats exactly what ended up happening. I also have to say the sales manager was quite rude, when he realized he wasnt going to get me to bend to his will he basically pushed my keys back to me, grabbed the paperwork and gave me a dirty look as if I had inconvenienced him in some way and just walked away back to his office. No thanks for coming in or thanks for considering giving Birchwood Ford my business. It was childish and unprofessional on his part, and now I wont even consider giving any Birchwood dealership my business because of this one experience. Happy shopping.
