I went into Visions yesterday to purchase a back up camera for my truck. I had called ahead and was told that there was one available for $150. When I got to the store I was told that the rep couldnt sell it to me and only the manager could (why cant their employee who specializes in car electronics sell me a product that they quoted me a price for over the phone?). He then said that the manager was ready to go home but that he could do me a favour and get him to come back to sell it to me. It turns out there was nothing that the manager did that the other rep couldnt do. He just wrote the product name and price on a sheet to be taken to the counter for me to pay. Heres where it gets bad: He asked me if I wanted the optional insurannce plan which I said no to and it went basically like this: Ronnie (manager): Would you like our insurance plan for $14.95 to protect your investment for x amount of years? Me: "No, I dont think so" Ronnie: "Its a really good idea since these days electronics dont last that long" Me: No thats okay, my credit card doubles the manufacturers warranty so your insurance would have no benefit to me" Ronnie: "Look, Im giving you a real good deal here" Me: "Okay, but I still dont want the insurance" Ronnie starts writing the amount of the insurance on the bill as if Im going to pay for it Ronnie: "youre going to buy the insurance" Me: "No Im not" Ronnie: "Look, you need to get with the program. I could just raise the price on this item here for you" Me: "So you mean that unless I agree to pay for this insurance youre not going to give me this item for this price which was quoted over the phone?" Ronnie: "Pretty much" Me: "alright then I dont want to purchase it" I started to walk off, pretty ticked off. Ronnie: "Okay fine Ill give it to you for that price" This is the worst experience Ive had in retail hands down and i will never go back to Visions. I ended up purchasing the camera, much to mey shame, because I needed to get it installed asap. I had gone to Visions before and gotten a really bad vibe and this confirms why. They cant sell products on their prices so they have to rely on manipulation and high pressure sales techniques to get anyone to buy their things. They inflate their prices so that they can afford to knock off some of the price to make it seem like youre getting a deal. Oh, and their insurance plan is a joke. I looked at it. They say that you will get your money back after the period of coverage is over if you dont make a claim but what they dont tell you is that you need to file an application for that money within a limited period of time after that period is over (I think 60 days). Also, that credit cannot be used towards sale priced items which means that in a store where everything is constantly on sale, you dont have that many options. They are counting on you forgetting to apply for the credit. Who is going to remember to do that after three years? This place is the absolute worst. For stress free experience where you will actually recieve good service and a company with a reputation worth upholding (Visions does not), go to Best Buy or Future Shop. Brutal.

I had a slimy feeling about Visions for reasons I couldnt specifically recall, but I went in anyway this evening to look at car stereo decks as Ive just purchased a used vehicle that does not support iPod or Bluetooth. I explained to the salesperson exactly what I was looking for and he suggested a $139 JVC model. When he went to look something up in the system, I spotted a Kenwood model with identical features for $10 less and asked about it. He could provide no concrete reason, but strongly pushed for the JVC. I told him that I have steering wheel audio controls in my vehicle and would like a unit that is compatible with those. He informed me I would need an additional $120 module to connect them. I wasnt pleased at the price of the unit essentially doubling, but agreed to take the Kenwood model with the steering wheel control module, figuring $250 (while more than I wanted to spend) wasnt terribly unreasonable. He took me over to the computer to complete the sale and schedule the installation. I declined the warranty two or three times - the first time he ignored me and carried on listing features. After checking the flyer to see if there were any sales on the item, he told me installation would be free. Much to my surprise, he then told me the total before tax was just above $400. When I asked why, he got extremely irritable going over the line by line cost breakdown with me. It turns out the "free" installation he mentioned only covered the labour of installing the deck itself, but not the additional apparently required parts nor the labour of installing the additional module or the Bluetooth microphone that came with the deck (which in itself was $27.50 to install - more than a little insane). I told him there was no way I was paying that and started to leave the store. He followed me and tried to convince me to make the purchase by reminding me of their policy to beat a competitors price by 15% and (once again) telling me about their warranty. I thanked him but said I would not be back as it made no sense to me that "free" installation still almost doubled the cost of the item. Now I know, avoid Visions from here on out.

This is my first review …but I feel the need to identify someone who has been exceptional to a personal friend and myself, his name is George Chaplin and he is a sale representative at Visions on Marine with a specialty in televisions. Highly recommended him! Times have changed and customer service provided by professional retail service providers is a rarity. After doing research online, I decided to continue my research at one of our local electronic stores. I went to Best Buy/Future Shop and met a very nice young man (working on his master’s degree…). I was there to get more specific information about the Samsung TV. After, sorry I don’t know that, no this isn’t the right remote but it sort of works, I realized that the whole experience was a waste of my time. Lamenting over the whole experience at a dinner party that evening an acquaintance mention an individual that works for Visions on Marine. Loads of experience, previously a dept. head at Future Shop and knows how to totally take care of his clients. He came highly recommended and I just want to take this opportunity to endorse this recommendation. I was involved with a close friend who went to meet with George and my friend’s experience was epic. He is also planning to write a review of his experiences. Without George’s intervention it would have been disastrous. Thank you George for all your support and putting your clients first! He is there from the beginning and forever or until your next TV purchase.

These guys are absolute jokes - I had been to there store in Port Coquitlam twice and was not happy either time. Lost of arguing with the managers. Very shady operation. I had taken my truck there to get a new stereo as my old one had died. Picked out a $400 deck. It turned into over $1000 after the free installation and all the extra parts they needed. They state they needed these extra parts to install a non factory unit in my truck...The unit they were replacing was non factory - so shouldnt all the extra parts be there? A few months later I decided to give them another shot and added a subwoofer. I explained to them I wanted the subwoofer to go under my back seat. They said no problem. When I got the truck back the subwoofer had just been thrown ON the back seat and didnt even have the wires connected. Thats when I decided never to go back to this location. Last week I went to the Marine Dr location. To buy a TV. The sales man also sold me a wall mount for it. For $80. I looked on amazon to find the exact same one for $35. When I went back to return this item, they would not take it back easily, nor honor their price protection policy. The box hadnt been opened. The end result wa me returning the TV and the mount. Ill never be doing business there again. Ever. 2 Locations, both as shady as one another.
