I have happily used the Shine Auto car wash for several years for its convenience, quality, and reasonable pricing. I went through for a wash late last week (Nov. 10 16), and afterwards noticed distinct, fine scratching/abrasions in a regular pattern covering the sides of the car. I phoned the car wash and left a voice message to report the incident, and returned again as soon as the office re-opened. While the representative I spoke with was reasonably personable, he began providing reasons why the damage could not have come from the car wash before even looking at the car (including numerous arguments that were irrelevant to the current situation, for example making an analogy to a dishwasher being unable to consistently clean dishes). The representative eventually did concede that he could not provide an alternative explanation for the scratching, and suggested that I take the car to a specialist to get an opinion. He gave me the opportunity to complete an incident report, but noted that I should not be hopeful for a sympathetic response. The language he used around this was oddly confrontational; he expressed for example that "they (ownership?) always win." As per the representatives recommendation, I took the car the to a detailing place. The detailer referred to the abrasions as "wash marks" and explained that they are a very common consequence of automatic car washes. The quote was $450 for restoration of the body, plus additional cost to replace the scratched vinyl window framing. I returned to Auto Shine and relayed this information to the representative, who was dismissive and offered no further support. In years of having my car washed at Shine Auto, I havent had any damage like this, and so it may have been a one-off experience (they seem to have recently installed new equipment, perhaps this is related?). Given the expense involved with getting the car to look the way it did before the wash, I will be cautious in the future when weighing the convenience of the Shine Auto car wash with this risk.

We took our 2003 Volvo V70 to get cleaned as we were trying to sell it. The car came out with no fuel door. It had been completely ripped off during the cleaning. We told the attendant, and they went and fished it out, but it had been driven over multiple times by other cars, and was dented in and beyond repair. We asked for a refund of the wash, as well as them to cover the costs to repair this damage. The regional manager Justin told us that they wouldnt cover it unless we went out and got a quote and inspection from a licensed Volvo dealer. So we drove across town to Docksteader Volvo and they took a look and told us itd be $100 for parts, and another $200 to paint the new piece. They also took a look at the damage in told us that it was not pre-existing, but extremely fresh, as based on the fresh break points that you can see in the pictures below. We sent this information to Justin, and he immediately told us that they wouldnt be responsible because of the age of our vehicle and apparently they have a history of failing hinges on the fuel doors. So basically we brought our car into get an $8 cleaning, and left with $300 in repairs that we have to either pay or take off the value of our car if somebody is still going to buy it. Not likely as the two appointments we had both cancelled when they learned of the new damage to the car. I cant warn people enough not to trust a business that takes so little responsibility for their actions. We will be reporting this situation to the better business bureau, and sharing our story with other news outlets to hopefully help others not make the same mistake that we did. Cant believe I wasted all that time driving across the city to get an inspection and quote, including costs of gas and missing several hours of work.

Would not recommend this car wash. After their standard wash, the complete back of my vehicle was untouched and dirty. I raised my concern with customer service (Dave) and was confronted with patronizing and insulting comments, telling me that I should have purchased the more expensive option for a full cleanse of my vehicle. Furthermore, he spent 15 minutes insulting me and showing me other cars that had been washed, blaming the poor wash job on my car model (Honda Odyssey, a common vehicle) and my lack of competency. He then told me that I did not use the automated drive-thru car wash appropriately and that he is not authorized nor willing to compensate for the poor service. I requested to speak to management and he retorted that he is given very clear instruction by his boss to NOT give compensation (such as an additional car wash). Overall, the customer service is very unsatisfactory and rude. They are given clear instructions to not provide compensation for shoddy jobs. So if you have a poor job done on your car, they will refuse to acknowledge it and to compensate for it. If you bring this up with their customer service, be prepared to be unjustifiably lectured on how you are an incompetent customer. Terrible experience. Never going back here again. Would not advise anyone to go here, purely because of the rude service, especially Dave. Refer to the photos of the poor wash job (the front, roof, and sides of the car were cleaned. The entire back was untouched by the car wash. Notice the swipes highlighting the layer of dirt still on the vehicle). The photo of the person is Dave, who was blaming my car model and my "incompetence" as the reason for their poor wash job.

Would never go back here again. Menu to order and pay for services not straightforward. Wanted the cheap $8 car wash. First question is whether you want extra services. I said no. Then it says swipe your credit card anytime. So I did. I was immediately charged $15 and never asked which option of car wash I wanted. Attendant cannot change this for you. He did however fold my mirrors in for me. The car wash itself is not touchless. I found scratches on my car afterwards that were not there before. It did not fully clean the car. There was bird crap on the top of my car and it was still there at the end of the wash. I called Shine Auto Wash immediately after going through because there was a line-up (one of the lane machines was broken). No answer on the first ring. Called again and rep was not helpful. He said the attendant should have told me bird crap wouldnt come off. Other places will let you go through again if it doesnt clean your car fully. They do not offer this and say bird crap gets "baked on". He insinuated that people take crappy old cars through and expect a brand new shining car at the end. I own a 2013 vehicle. There isnt even a place for you to pre-scrub your car. The dryers do an ok job, but not great one, so water droplet marks are left on your car after it dries. Based on customer service, amount paid and status of car at the end of the wash: I would never return to this vendor again and would not recommend it.

I would only go through again, if I had a vehicle that I did not care much about in terms of the paint finish... NB, I am very particular about the paint on my cars, and was VERY reluctant to take it through any automatic car wash however due to the current "Stage 3" water ban and being an upstanding citizen, I had no choice. When my car came out, there were noticeable markings on the roof, trunk, hood... well, everywhere, of where the "scrubbers" made contact. Going through the wash was like hitting turbulence in a plane piloted by a novice. Car was shaking like crazy as it tumbled through (the wash lasted maybe 2 minutes). It is an unsettling sensation allowing a track guided rail to navigate your car through (concerns about marking up the wheels; it glides on the inside of the wheel so if there were any damage you wouldnt see it on the outside). I also noticed a lot of rock chips in my paint after going through. Now, I cannot confirm 100% that it was from the wash, but I did not have them on my car before, and they were on the sides of the car where rock chips would not usually appear. All in all... for $8 bucks, know what youre getting into. If you just want your car clean but wouldnt notice small scratches and swirl marks, fill your boots. If you treasure and cherish your beloved vehicle and its paint, find a DIY wash bay or wait out the water ban to do it yourself properly.
