Five stars for the garage staff, one star for the management. Go elsewhere. My girlfriend got a screw in the middle of her tread, and since this was the closest tire shop, I told her to head over and ask for a plug or a patch. I find out the guy at the desk has told her that since she drove a single city block on the flat, there is "discolouration" around the sidewall of the tire (with absolutely no actual sidewall damage), and that this tire, which is on a brand new car with less than 7000km, is garbage. They quote her $300 for a new tire and install. I hear about this, and come to look at it myself. The guy at the desk repeats that because of the "discolouration" it needs to be replaced. I tell him that the tire was driven less than a block while flat, and he tells me "well, sometimes thats enough". Give me several breaks. I tell them to get real, and take it to my preferred tire shop. The guys at the second shop are bewildered about my experience at this Kal Tire location; they (correctly) note the tire is in almost perfect condition, and put in a plug for a 20. We walk away happy. Major points, however, for the guys actually doing the work at this location, as they happily topped up the spare tire on the car, even after we said we were going elsewhere.

I know its busy with the unexpected weather, but Ive had a pretty bad impression of this place so far. I got an online quote over three weeks ago which said Id be contacted within a day to make an appointment. Still no call. Ive called during open hours several times each day but the line is always busy. After a week, I contacted online customer service, who called the location and told me Id be contacted within the day. I still havent heard anything. Edit: About a month after my initial quote, I got a phone call from the location, letting me know that my quote had been printed out and misplaced. I got a new quote and appointment, and even a slight discount for my trouble. Everybody I dealt with was quite helpful and friendly, but the fact remains that it shouldnt take a month and close to a dozen phone calls to get an appointment time. I thought that was the point of an online booking system? Also, when the printed copy was lost, I had to resubmit my quote request. You should have digital backups. "We printed your quote and lost it" isnt an acceptable reason to never call a customer back.

Called in as I had a large bolt stuck in my passenger side tire. Chris said he would be able to get me in no problem. Got there in about 30 mins from my destination. I informed Chris of the problem and decided to get the drivers side tire fixed as it also had a slow leak. Not a problem at all said it would be done in a few hours and would call me back when they were complete with the work. I went for lunch around the area and came back just before the place was closing as I saw my Saturn up on the hoist. Chris informed me the car would be ready shortly which was no worry as I had no where to be. Got called up to the counter where Chris told me exactly what work they did and what materials they used. He folded up the bill, handed it to me and told me to have a great long weekend! I was floored to hear the work they did was free!! Saved us more than $80 for our trip back to Calgary. Best customer service Ive had at a mechanic, no up sale, no secrets just straight to the point and a bonus tire patch! Great work guys I hope youre around for awhile. Dont ever change! Andrew & Kayla

If I could rate this Kal Tire 0 stars I would. My mother, bless her heart, trusted this shop to fix a leaky hose clamp for a newly installed radiator. So she went to this shop, that had received favourable reviews by friends, to get the job done. She got there before opening and left the key in the drop box with a quick description of the work that needed to be done. Someone from Kal Tire call a little while later saying that there was a lot of work that needed to be done: the thermostat needed replacing (it was only a couple months old), an oil change, full coolant flush and new coolant, new water pump, and a new battery. Never mind that there was no problem identified just a couple months before by the shop that replaced the entire cooling system, but the battery had been functioning perfectly starting the car without any problems. The final bill was $1000. After the work was complete, the car wouldnt start and I had to fix it myself.

Seriously disappointed! Kal tire was recommended to me but when I went to collect my vehicle the salesmen was unbelievably rude. I understand a week of snow will result in a busy week for a tire shop but this staff member was completely dismissive to all of my questions and never mentioned anything about after care. When I asked of my original tires he told me my original tires were in my truck, and my truck was a block and a half down. I checked, and they had not given me back my tires. I returned to the store and asked where they were, and was told "my attitude wasnt helping" I was in shock that this guy had the nerve to have a go at me, having just dropping a thousand dollars on tires and been spoken to like Dirt! That this guy didnt like MY tone! I will not be returning to this branch!

No complaints, they provided service as discussed over the phone. I had an alignment done as one tire was wearing funny. They confirmed it most likely needed alignment, and ensured me that if it did not, they would not charge me. Turns out, it did, and they showed me how many degrees it was off on their spec sheet. Car was taken care of nicely, did not have anything moved around inside or noticed any dirt left behind. They quoted me 2 hours. They called me to retrieve my car after about 1.75 hours. Hard to tell if the job was done properly yet; time will tell but as far as I can tell, its all good. Would go back to them again for work I couldnt do on the car myself.

Dwaine and the team at Kal Tire were fantastic today. I recently left an interior light on when I parked my car at the airport for a 4-day trip. When I came back, the battery was completely drained. When BCAA came to give me a boost, they informed me that car batteries need to be purposely recharged (they dont regenerate anymore just by driving) and recommended a competitor of Kal Tire (up the street). I phoned there and wasnt impressed, so phoned Kal Tire. Dwaine asked good questions and got me the information that I needed, then informed me that they dont charge to re-charge a battery. Ive been in before and Ill be back, theyre consistently great!

What a disappointment when people try to rip you off. I went in for a noise in the rear of my vehicle and was told my leaf springs and all shocks and struts should be replaced costing $3400. I knew this seemed fishy so I took into Budget Auto where they knew even before me going further with explanation of what was going on that it was the U-Joint only costing $575 total. No shocks or struts needed to be replaced. Budget Auto was able to pull up a whole history of what was done on my vehicle too, struts were done 2 years ago. Terrible terrible what you tried to do, Im telling everyone I know to stay away from Kal-Tire.
