We are a Toyota family and have purchased several vehicles new over the years from Jim Pattison Toyota Downtown Vancouver always having had great experiences there. Our family vehicle is a Sienna and decided we needed a second vehicle for commuting since we will be moving out of the city. Have had Corollas in the past and loved them but now with a big dog decided that the Matrix with a hatchback would be the way to go. Had been checking used car ads for a few weeks so had a good idea of the price they were selling for. For what we wanted to spend figured we would probably buy a 2006 or 2007. Imagine my surprise when I saw an ad for a 2009 with low mileage on sale at Metro Lexus Toyota Victoria in our price range! Contacted the dealership for more information and John Reid responded immediately answering all my questions. We started to make plans to go to Victoria but then got cold feet because the engine size on this vehicle was 1.8L and we were concerned that it may not have enough power - important to us because we will need good acceleration to merge onto a tricky part of the highway. John told us that the 1.8L has plenty of power but we figured hes a salesman of course he will say that so we decided we needed to look for an XR model with a 2.4L engine and headed out to Richmond Chrysler Jeep where they had one that seemed to be within our price range. To make a long story a little shorter we decided the extra power was a good idea and negotiated what we thought was a good deal when at the last minute we discovered a $750.00 in "extra" fees that were never discussed with us. After feeling like we were already in a highly pressured sales situation we were very upset about this and walked away from the deal. We then contacted John Reid at Metro to follow-up on his vehicle and fortunately it was still available despite the amazing sale price I guess it was meant to be ours. We took the ferry to Victoria the next morning and to our great surprise John had arranged to pick us up and drive us to the dealership - a good 25-30 minutes away. This saved our whole family including our young child a long (and hot) bus ride. Dealing with John from the start was a much more pleasant experience - no pushy sales tactics - no BULLS$@T like we had previously experienced - just a good honest guy facilitating the purchase of a great vehicle. He told us he believes in treating people the way he would want to be treated and that was obvious from our experience. Also he was right the 1.8L had plenty of power and acceleration. He went the extra mile for us, waited patiently with us after the deal was secured to make sure we were taken care of, even though he would potentially be able to make more sales if he went back to the lot. If you are in the market for a used car we HIGHLY recommend contacting John Reid at Metro Lexus Toyota Victoria!

FANTASTIC! About a decade ago it was "love at first Sienna" for my wife and I, as we drove one (rental vehicle) to Mt. Washington for some fun on the slopes. That was "pre-children", now as a family man with three kids and my wife looking after two toddlers full time we wanted to secure a safe, roomy, comfortable 21st century van for the next decade +. We werent officially in the market but stopped by the gorgeous new Toyota facility to check out the new line-up and say hi to our good friend Abe. After seeing the newest Sienna in the showroom we checked online what was available on the Island and in BC. We came across an XLE Limited in Nanaimo and fell head over heels in love - unfortunately that one sold, but Abe and his manager were ready to bring it down to this dealership had the deal not gone through. So I kept in touch and stated our intention of finding a Sienna like this model if anything came up on the "radar"; I got a call back the same day that a 2012 model had been located in the Lower Mainland. We put a deposit down and Abe made arrangements to have it brought over the following day. We went for a test drive and of course had little doubt about wanting to acquire this incredible vehicle in order to replace our smaller aging Mazda MPV. The day after on a Saturday I was in the dealership signing off with John the Finance Manager who was very thorough, professional and patient throughout the process. What can I say about Abe? Hes charismatic, charming, knowledgeable and fun. To balance the friendship and remain professional with both parties best interest at stake was not easy, but he did so with flying colors. Whilst we were not able to get the price down any further it was clearly explained to us why, and I think overall it was fair and for what we get out of the vehicle moving forward worth every penny. After getting the new plates and insurance on site I stated one thing was missing before I left happy, and that was a free coffee from their machine. Without asking I was offered a ride to where the rest of my family was in a different part of town - going above and beyond is all I can say to that, and thanks again for a great buying experience! I highly recommend Abe, John and the rest of the team at the Toyota (JP Auto group) dealership to any prospective buyer.

The comment below was 2 months ago, when I bought the car. I still rate 5 stars for the purchase experience. My experience with the Service Department today wasnt that great, though, mostly because I set my expectation too high. I should have known that it was a department that provides services to cars, and not to people. My first impression was that no one bothered to crack a smile, to me or other customers, but it was fine, Greg was helpful and professional and I was pleased. It wasnt until I picked up the car that a very young person behind the counter (I shall not put his name here) made me feel like I was a waste of his time, all because I asked a few (3) questions (there was no other customers at the time) and told him that I would step aside to review the invoice before signing the paperwork. A few minutes later when I came back to the counter to sign it, he told me that there was no need for me to sign it anymore. When I insisted on seeing it, it turned out that he already initialed for me! Now that was disrespectful! *********** My husband and I had a list of car dealerships to visit when we decided to look for a car to replace my very old one, and this happened to be our first stop. Jay greeted us as soon as we stepped out of the car - small gesture but made us feel welcome right from the start. As soon as he learned of my wishlist for the new car, he took us to several cars and explained the features of each to us. He was tactful enough to give us room to discuss but was there when we had questions. When we finally narrowed down to the 2 potential cars and wished to see their online reviews, he took us back to his desk to look them up for us. Long story short, I drove home happily in my new car 2 days later. All in all Jay was very helpful, knowledgeable, and accommodating to our requests. We didnt feel like be pushed into a purchase at all which would have been a turn-off. Murray the Financial Services Manager was great. The person who helped us transferring the insurance was very helpful too. In fact, everyone there was cheerful and pleasant to talk to. It was a nice experience. I do hope that when I bring my new car back for service Ill receive the same treatments. I will definitely recommend this dealership and Jay to friends and family.
