Avis offered a competitive price when we reserved our mid-size car, but unfortunately thats the only positive thing I can say about them. Not only did they not have a car ready for us when we arrived at their front desk, but the manager, Samm, was rude and dismissive and did not seem to care one bit about providing decent customer service. When we asked what she could do for us, her response was, "Well try to find another car; itll be at least half an hour to find one and clean it out." Maybe they could please upgrade us to the Chrysler 300 thats on the specials board? "No, we dont have anymore of those." Maybe we could upgrade to something else? "Itll be full price to upgrade. We can give you a pickup truck," she says, ignoring the child seats and children that we have with us. I thought we had a reservation? "Well, you *were* half an hour late," she says, ignoring the fact that she has our flight number and shouldve known that it was delayed. "Thats just the nature of air travel," she concludes, rather flippantly. No apologies, no sympathy, nothing. It boggles the mind that someone so obtuse could be in customer service. Nate, the new guy behind the front counter, was very kind and wanted to help us, but told us he was new and his hands were tied, and that he couldnt do anything without Samms approval. I feel sorry for the guy to have to work in such a stifling environment. Next time, well be going with a different rental company.

We visited the area and rented a vehicle Feb 17-24. The folks at the counter were friendly and helpful. The vehicle was almost new and very clean. Upon arriving home I discovered I had left a very expensive pair of binoculars either at the rental house or in the vehicle. I called the owner of the house and Avis to ask about them. A couple days later Avis called to tell me they had found them under the passenger seat. They were able to arrange shipping to Northern California. I am very happy with the service I received and I am extremely happy with their honesty. Thank you Avis!

Rented a car in downtown Victoria and returned it at Victoria International AirPort. We were admittedly a little late (30 minutes) but we were charged $86 for that half an hour when the full day rental we prepaid was $94. We didnt complain or charge Avis when we had to return to the office when we picked up the car because they didnt fill out the damage report properly. The penalty for being a little late is totally over the top. Avis definitely needs to try harder.

Staff was so kind, I booked car online. It was reasonable rates, and when i get there, they dont have the car what I booked, so they upgraded to better one. :)
