Worst of the Worst, Last month when looking for a new HD Truck I came across a 2016 Silver GMC Sierra 3500 SLE Diesel at Island GMC and called the dealership about that particular truck. After a few phone calls to a salesman I received a call from a Sales Manager who told me it was my lucky day, that starting this month THAT PARTICULAR TRUCK was 20% off. I queried him on this, and was reassured that this indeed was the case. So I cleaned up my trade in, found the second set of keys and drove the 45 minutes from Vic to Duncan. And then the troubles started. My sales manager was no where, but my salesman told me that no, there was no 20% off on Diesel trucks and that the sales manager who had called me was from Edmonton and would pretty much say anything to get someone into the dealership.....WoW! Did he just admit to him lying to me? Then he said that my NEW sales manager would make things right by giving me a great deal. Heres the deal they gave me... - They charged me 2000 dollars more than the advertised price on the web because running boards were added. The same running boards that were in the picture, under the original price, on the web. - They offered me 6000 in discounts because I was paying cash, but the advertised discount for that month was 6500 regardless of financing. - They offered me 13 000 for my trade in when the average value of the last three dealerships was 17 000. - They did not offer me the Air Canada discount which I was entitled to So I told them I wasnt interested and went home. That night, after talking with the wife she suggested that I call GMC Canada to complain. I agreed and called them the next morning. I spoke with Robin Boudreault and I explained to him why I was calling... - The dealership lied about a 20% discount to get me to drive up to Duncan. - They falsely advertised their vehicle. - They did not give me the Air Canada discount. - They offered me less than that months discount. I said to Robin, that Im a 50 year old, 200 pound, bald Airline Captain and that if this is the way they are treating me, how do you think they treat the little old ladies of the world? I also told him that I was going to buy the Ford 350 as at least the Ford dealership had been straight and had given me a decent discount, on paper and properly explained from the beginning. There were a few phone calls back and forth and eventually, with Robin as the intermediary Island GMC matched the lesser of the two deals I had made with Ford and I agreed to buy the truck. Once we had the deal the sales manager told me that he was expecting a positive google review and a positive customer service review from GMC Canada. I said, no way. After getting the truck home I was still a little flabbergasted at all the work I had to do just to cut through the horse s**t to get a descent deal. I had a proper quote from Suburban Ford in less than 45 minutes and it took two days, and calls to GMC headquarters to get the same from Island GMC. So I wrote GMC a long letter, backed it up with screen shots and scanned copies of all the relevant emails, data, and vehicle window stickers and fired it off. I received a call from their customer service saying they received the letter, that no this was not the way dealerships were supposed to behave, that my letter would be sent to the proper department and that someone would get back to me. That has yet to happen, so I am going ahead with this review. I should say that I make buying truck pretty easy, I dont ask for a test drive, I pay cash and spend as little time as possible in the dealership. I certainly dont waste a salespersons time and I dont barter back and forth. I ask for one price, off the lot everything included and then I make my decision over a weeks time. I also dont like writing negative reviews. Unfortunately, I wasnt given much of a choice by Island GMC. I would never recommend this dealership to anyone, in fact I would go out of my way to tell people to steer clear.

My Review of Island GM Date: 7-12-2017 Reason For Visit: Repair and also Auto Sales (Used) Island GM turned a problem situation into stress free vehicle ownership. Dear Masood and Mike, thank you all for helping me out today, yall turned a stressful situation and a camping trip I cancelled before I showed up to Island GM leaving overjoyed and a happy new car owner with better future repair service and a loyal customer to Island GM, this morning I went in to deal with my wheel wobble as it got much worse after my camping trip on Salt Spring, I camped the night in Bamberton, and turned around in the morning actually just to go into Island GM and I got a high cost repair bill, though I was able and willing to pay it but lets be honest I didnt want to, and instead with the help and support of Island GMs used car sales team who then turned my stress into a nearly new low kilometre red 2016 Chevrolet Cruze with a much lower interest rate and an affordable per monthly payment plan while making sure I was okay going forward with everything and of course I didnt hesitate to sign all the papers and acquire ownership of this red beauty, I was there from 11:30am until 3 or 4pm but I felt confident going forward that the newer vehicle would benefit my driving needs for work and school commuting, plus if I ever need or want to trade it in Ill for sure be returning to Island GM, but for future oil changes, warranty coverage and all repairs, itll be Island GM for me, and I now live in victoria! Island GM is hands down the place to go, I also suggest others needing car repair and/or oil changes to visit the repair shop and of course the used dealership at Island GM, too, its a dealership full of honest customer service, its not stereotyped "sleezy" car salespeople at Island GM, its people and car repair folks wanting drivers to be safe while out driving on the roads, I feel the repair folks are forthcoming and honest with repairs needed, service people do walk you through the things and costs and make sure youre comfortable paying for each mechanical repair and the dealership well sit for hours on the phone waiting to get you into a newish/used vehicle (in my case) and who knows, maybe youll leave with a newer vehicle just like I did! And please do tell Mike and Massod, Kevin with the red 2016 Cruze and Bose sound system, sent you in to Island GM :D lolol

Mickeys Gang
Mickeys Gang is PROUD to be driving this AWESOME new truck from our friends at Island GM! Carolyn wants to send out TONS of thanks and appreciation to Robert and all the staff for making this dream a reality! With Miss Maggies appetite, we needed something to haul hay and feed, so we contacted Robert on December 28th. After 22 days of back and forth, tireless effort, and some major finance fences leaped, we were able to bring this new beauty home! This is the first vehicle that we are PROUD to have the dealer logo stay on... the AutoBot decal will have to live in a new spot! Robert, Chris, Kim, and Masood were all amazing and helpful in making this dream a reality.... and we are SO grateful to them all. If youre in the market for a new or used vehicle, these guys are your only stop. Our entire process was tricky... but they didnt give up! Even when we started to, Robert pushed through... and at the end of the day we brought this baby home. Maggie and April are happy, although now they have nothing to laugh at when we drive up with a truck loaded with hay, instead of bales balanced precariously on the roof of a mini van. (Yes, Maggie actually snorts with laughter at that. Its a great ego deflater.) Thank you Island GM for helping this little family out in such a BIG way! We hope to pay your kindness forward... and will continue to sing your praises! (And for a more detailed review of the LONG month spent, check out or review at DealerRater.ca.) Your friends, Mickeys Gang, The Humans: Carolyn, Abigail, Danielle, and Sabrina. The Horses: April and Maggie The Fuzz Butt: Mickey Doodle.
