Bought a 2013 vehicle from Galaxy and the customer service was great and everything but had an issue that I was noticing which was squealing of the brakes. They told me to take it to Galaxy Nanaimo service shop. I did. I also took it to another shop for an unbiast opinion. was told that rotors were all damaged and brake pads all heat cracked. Car should not have passed the inspection. As this is a safety concern and Galaxy is required by law to fix this problem since they must sell road safe vehicles, they replaced the rotors and front pads and shimmed the back pads. The guy at Nanaimo service shop told me they use high end parts. I found out they used the cheaper parts available from NAPA - not to say NAPA sells cheap parts but they sell low and high end parts and these were not the high end that the guy claimed they use when they do repairs. Anyway, brakes are fixed and Im happy.... until I hear squealing. Take it back and they tell me they dont know why they are squealing. They cant figure it out so they end up telling me it is because all brake pads do this since they stopped using asbestos... That is hilarious since asbestos has not been used in YEARS... also funny how I dont hear every other vehicle on the road squealing when they pull up at a red light. So now I go back to Galaxy again. And then again. And then AGAIN. I made 3 trips back to tell them squealing was getting louder and I wanted to find out what the issue was. They still could not tell me after pulling the wheels off and kept feeding me the same line about all brake pads do this and kept feeding me the garbage about asbestos free brake pads all squeal. At this point I am sick of dealing with Galaxy and taking all this time off work to make multiple trips to the shop for them to lie to me since they just did not know why they squealed. I ahve since taken my car into a brake specialist who explains that there are 2 things wrong: 1) I can comment too much on since I cant rememeber what was smeared all over everything but there was some sort of product on the brake components that they said should not be anywhere near brake components. 2) They did not lubricate the brakes. This is all that is required to stop the squealing. Funny that Galaxy could not figure that out oafter 3 trips back. The brake guy I dealt with said they clearly have an inexperienced tech doing brakes. Sometimes you just get that feeling when something is not right and I had that everytime I delat with Galaxy. I felt like I was dealing with a snake oil salesman who had an asnwer to everything to get me back on the road and out of his hair. The brake specialist I dealt with gave me a good feeling and gave me an easy fix which took 1 trip and instantly spotted the issues as soon as the tires were popped off so I sat around for 15 mins or so to find out what the problems were and that was it.... After this whole experience it was apparent that Galaxy is not the place to buy or service cars. I know that they purchase cars from rental agencies and vehicles that have had prior accidents, I would guess they pick them up pretty cheap and then throw some cheap (or high end as Nanaimo service shop will tell you) parts in to get the car running good so they can move them off the lot at a marked up price which I understand is the name of the game but for the car I purchased to have passed an inspection with EXTREMELY VISIBLE DAMAGE TO BRAKE COMPONENTS is absolutely unacceptable and I am sure I did not buy the only vehicle that slipped through the inspection.... I have another issue with a repair that Galaxy had done prior to my purchase which I wont get in to as this review is long enough but once again they used the cheapest part available to do the repair which is now failing on me. Buy from a reliable dealer people. Use friends and family to gain knowledge about reputable delaers and repair shops.
Great place to buy a car! I hate buying vehicles I really dislike the games and usual tricks of uping the price. The staff were really helpful and down to earth answered all my questions about the vehicle I was looking for. Was given a great finance rate. Free car washes for life. If you go on a Friday to get your car washed youll get a hot dog and popcorn Im really happy with buying my car from them I recommend to a few friends and theyve all bought from their cars from them also.
John Cassidy is incompetent. Not sure what credentials he has to be a service writer but he definately does not belong behind the counter. Would be better suited as a wash boy, his mechanical knowledge is that of a oil change apprentice.. Also a "know it all attitude" so tired of these people bullsh*ting themselves into job titles.. Unbelievable!!
Phoned galaxy motors service station at 4:50pm on a Friday as I found a screw in my tire. They stayed open late so they could fix my tire. 5 star service. Was so happy I didnt have to wait till Monday. Thank you so much !!!!!
These guys were great! Fast, thorough and honest. All the things you want in a mechanic shop!
