Positive reviews and recommendations from family and friends convinced me to bring my car here for a few services. The guys I talked to were nice and helpful, but there were a few things which make me not want to come back for service. I went to this location for 3 services; one oil change, a tire change, and then another oil change. On the first oil change, they invoiced me for a synthetic oil upgrade (+$40) without asking or confirming this with me beforehand. I had not asked for synthetic oil when making the appointment. Since they are the professionals I trusted their judgement and knowledge and paid the invoice. For the second visit, I made an appointment to change my tires a week beforehand. When I arrived for my Saturday 12:00 appointment, I was told they did not have the appointment in their system, but I could leave the car there and "hopefully" they could get to it that day. I left the car there until they called me 10 minutes before closing telling me the service was done and I had to come pick it up now or wait until the next day. On the third visit (another oil change), I was not charged for synthetic oil. So obviously my car does not require synthetic oil then. They filled it with conventional 5w20 Penzoil. Why was I charged for synthetic oil the first time, especially since I didnt ask for and didnt approve the added cost before they did it? On the first visit they provided me with an inspection sheet for the vehicle listing the status of various areas of the car. On the second visit they did not provide the breakdown and simply told me "its all good". When I asked for the inspection sheet they said they didnt fill one out. They also did not provide the inspection sheet on the third visit either. Ive also heard from others that these inspections are optional and you can save money by opting out of the inspection. Obviously I would opt-out of the inspection if I knew that was an option, but they charge me for it anyway and fail to provide the results of the inspection. The inspection sheets are helpful for tracking information about tire and brake wear over time, as well as remembering what needs to be serviced later, and they should be included with every inspection. Finally, and Im not sure when they started doing this, but they now apply tire shine to the tires after each service, which I wasnt informed of and dont want. The tire shine they use is cheap and slings onto the vehicle paint after just a few kms of driving, and they dont apply it properly or evenly. On the second visit my wheels were covered in tire shine smears when I picked it up. If youre going to apply tire shine, do it right or dont do it at all, and ask the customer beforehand. Maybe I had a string of bad luck, but either way I will not be coming back to this location for service again. Best of luck to everyone else who tries this location... EDIT: After posting this review, the location manager Jim reached out to me. He was very apologetic and did a great job to resolve the situation. Ive bumped the review up to reflect how great he was in helping fix these issues.

Update: My concerns were addressed by Kaltire in a timely manner. Gord, manager of Coquitlam location, reached out to me. He addressed my concern with the staffs indifferent reaction to my feedback. Moreover, he came to my place of work to speak with me in person. I was thoroughly impressed with Gord and his level of professionalism. I appreciate the effort in exceeding my expectations. Updated star rating from 1 to 4 stars. ******************** I recently set aside 1.5 hours to go in for a prebooked tire rotation. This is on a work day and I had to adjust my schedule to make this work. After checking in, the staff advised he will use a tread gauge to see if the appointment is necessary. After checking each tire in one area, he concluded the rotation is unnecessary as the tread is wearing evenly. I was taken back I wasnt told to check my own tire tread level in advance before taking 1.5 hours of my day to go to Kaltire. My action was in accordance to a best practice document provided by Kaltire after my new tire purchase. Hence I advised the staff it will be helpful to remind all customers we can check our own trend levels before booking an appointment for rotation. Instead of responding to my feedback, this staff stares at me with a blank expression and does not respond. I explained to him I took time out of my work day to be there but this could have been avoided with a reminder. He continued to stare at me without responding. Finally I gave up on getting any response then he asked if there is anything else he can help with. I asked him if there is a chance his measurement is inaccurate. He proceed to tell me he measures each tire in 2 areas for better accuracy contradicting what I saw when I watched him only measure each tire in 1 area as I stood beside him throughout the measurement. At this point I no longer trust this staff member and agreed to leave without rotating my tire. This experience made me feel I was conned to abandon my appointment so the staff can focus their time on revenue generating appointments. I dont trust the staff member I dealt with and his lack of response to my feedback makes me feel my opinion do not matter. My family and I spent thousands of dollars at Kaltire as we drive 3 different cars. I will now reconsider my business with your organization after this experience.

We cannot thank enough your Assistant Manager, Mr. Gord Buerk and your Service Person, Mr. Alonso Vasquez! We were stuck on a Saturday evening at 5.30-PM in a part of the Lower Mainland that we hardly know, with a tire ready to go down any minute. As we arrived at your Runnel Drive location, even though on a Saturday evening after hours, with the store technically closed, your Assistant Manager, Gord, was kind enough to practically re-open the store and together with Alonso fix the problem and put us back on track. We simply can’t say enough times THANK YOU! Thank You Gord, for going beyond and not doing just “what is expected of you”! As a matter of fact, your store was the third one that we drove to, after stopping at two others on the Port Moody – Coquitlam line. Needless to say, the first two turned us down: “Sorry, we are closing, come back Monday morning…” With the front wheel in such bad shape, we were more than clear that we will not make it to Richmond. On top of this, we had a special needs child in the car, a child that was sensing the accumulating stress but could not understand “why”. Words cannot describe enough of how we felt when we left your store. We were flying. More than any advertising, marketing, web presence or even word of mouth, I feel that you, Kal Tire, as an organization, you will always come on top with people like Gord Buerk, no matter the business environment at that particular moment. There simply isn’t any other way. We want to congratulate the person that hired Gord, whenever that happened, and again to your organization for keeping him, and last but not least to Gord himself, for being the man that he is. THANK YOU GORD! Kal Tire, congratulations, for betting on real people, not on strategies! I wish you all my best, and please count on me as your Client. Yes, when I’ll need new tires, I’ll drive from Richmond to see Gord and Alonso. You can count on it.
