This is my first time writing a Google review, and probably my only time, but I wanted to take this extra step to tell potential customers of Mertin GM about what a wonderful dealership this is! We were recommended to Mertin by a friend a couple months ago. We had a very specific list of "wants" for our new truck purchase that, Ill be the first to admit, made us somewhat tough clients to please. We werent willing to settle for less then what we had in mind, and because we didnt NEED a new vehicle, we were also prepared to wait as long as necessary to fulfill our criteria. A salesman of 8 years at the dealership, Surinder Mann, agreed to help us find our perfect fit. He searched province-wide for us and stayed in touch almost daily throughout the process. We found him to be both professional and friendly, very easy to talk to, and up-front as well. Amazingly enough, he ended up locating a truck for us that was en-route from the factory and headed to another dealership in BC. It was exactly the one we had been looking for and we were thrilled when he was able to secure the vehicle as ours. He told us it would be 3 more weeks before the truck arrived at the dealership. During that time, Surinder also facilitated a specialty order for after market rims (ordered and delivered from California on time!), and was very accommodating of the extras we wanted put onto the truck or taken off the truck before we came to pick it up. We were pleasantly surprised when our truck arrived at the dealership almost a week earlier then promised, and was ready to go for us days ahead of schedule. Which brings me to the other outstanding individual at the dealership, of whom we have the highest praise, Sean Elmont. He is a Sales Manager at Mertin. Throughout the process we were also in touch with him on a regular basis, and for someone who is so extremely busy, his replies or follow-up phone calls were always with an incredibly fast turnaround from our initial ones. He is very personable and refreshingly honest, two qualities we certainly admire in anyone wed like to purchase a vehicle from. When the day came to pick up our new vehicle, we were again surprised walking into Mertin.... it was sparkling clean (even the bathrooms were spotless and beautiful!), with both a large play centre and an iPad available for our 6 year old daughter to use during our 2 hours there. We felt immediately at ease. In the end, our vehicle was even less then the already low price they had initially promised us, which for my husband sealed the deal that we would be Mertin customers for life going forward. Please, if youre considering a new vehicle purchase, you can feel VERY confident about this dealership and the excellent service of both Sean Elmont and Surinder Mann. We are thrilled with our new truck and cant thank them enough.

July 4 - Below I have a review on my first experience at Mertins. Since Google does not seem to give me the opportunity to add to my review but only edit it, I have now since changed my perspective. Jason Arnold hunted me down to discuss my dissatisfaction. We discussed on the phone asked me if I would give them a second chance. So I decided that it was worth it. When arriving he had the vehicle off the ramp, getting it detailed for us to take it out on a drive. He spent the time to go over the features and we went for the drive. After arriving back we sat down with another sales rep Jerome. I felt that they went out of their way to answer all of my questions and they spent time with me to discuss my options and what the end cost would be. So my overall customer experience was a complete turn around where I felt like I was more or less ignored at first, I then felt like I was treated like royalty. I appreciated the time they spent with me and that they owned my complaint and did something about it. Due to the turn around experience I would now suggest going to their dealership. ========================================================== July 3rd 1 Star Review - I dont normally write reviews on bad experiences. But I thought this was worth it. Went to Mertins this evening genuinely looking to purchase a newer truck and was very interested in the Red Z71 that they had elevated outside for display. We looked at a few other trucks noticing that their after market logos such as True North and Kodiak were either not consistent on either side of the truck and or the letters were crooked. Small things for sure, but at the same time buying a truck for 60K you would expect better. Next thing was we stood outside for 15 minutes while there was 4 salesmen inside not doing anything. There was even a moment where another salesman looked at a truck a few feet away and walked back, didnt acknowledge us and or didnt send a salesman to come help us. Upon returning to my vehicle my friend decided to go inside and express his disappoint with the lack of service and the cleanliness and presentation of the vehicles. The majority of the trucks we were looking at had bird excrement and a layer of dirt that we had wipe away from the widow to see the price tags. In comparison other dealerships we visited earlier today, had 3 different salesmen walk out to make sure we were taken care of. Test drove a few different trucks and a 4Runner. Went over pricing and other sales stuff. When you compare the service that I got at Valley Toyota and what I got at Mertins GM it makes a huge difference. The Tundra is a more expensive truck for less features but if I get better service at Toyota then it makes up for the price and most likely less frustration in the future.

It took THREE visits before they were able to replace a few burnt out bulbs. As a GM dealership and service department, you would think they would carry bulbs for their vehicles . (The above comment was my first review) Initially, I gave one star. However, after sending an email to Mertin GM, they did in fact call back ASAP to apologize and have arranged to send a technician to my home in the next 24 hours to replace the bulb. I can appreciate GM not stocking every light bulb in their shop, but for future customers it might save a lot of headache to check inventory before the customer arrives for their appointment. But to end on a good note, I am very appreciative of the timely response to my email as well as sending someone to my house with the new bulb!!

I have purchased 3 vehicles over the past several years from Mertin. Each purchase was a comfortable event. This last purchase is a new Chevy Cruze a good product. The Service Department the general manager and service writers have treated me as an absolute nothing. I have never experienced such a feeling of lack of attention or caring from any car dealership in my entire life. Mertin could not pay me enough to change my opinion and buy another car from them. I believe that the only reason they would now contact me is because not to improve their service but to just give them more stars. Needless to say I would have enjoyed further business with Mertin GM but sadly after all of these years I will now merely walk away.
