I gave the dealership these ratings because they deserved them. I had been searching for a used compact/crossover SUV for almost three months, visiting or communicating with nine other dealerships before stopping by Ron Hodgson on an exhausted whim. Some of those dealerships tried to fast-talk me into taking out a loan, some of them tried to get me into a completely different make and model (and once even type) than I had already decided I wanted. One was all set to sell us a perfectly fine vehicle pending a third-party inspection, and then tried to bully us into buying the vehicle immediately by saying they couldnt hold for an inspection after all; in retrospect I think they were afraid an inspection would reveal something bad. The service we received at Ron Hodgson truly shone in comparison to all these other chuckleheads. FRIENDLINESS: Todd greeted us as soon as we pulled in. I gave him the parameters I was searching for, and he was able to tell me from memory everything he had that fit the bill. He only asked once if I was interested in anything not on my list, and accepted my firm "No." That acceptance is what got him this 5. Pushy, hungry, high-pressure sales tactics that were obviously learned at some seminar or handed down from upper management make me FLEE, and Im not alone in feeling like this. Want my attention? Treat me like a person. Its not hard. Todd did it just fine. PRICE: Within minutes we were test-driving a 2009 Mazda Tribute with 54,000 km on it, priced at $18k. Its price had recently been lowered from $24k, and when it was clear we were serious about the vehicle he didnt hesitate to knock off another $500. This might have been a case of right place/right time, as I understand the vehicle had been taking up lot space for a while. Still, whatever the reason, that is some attractively competitive pricing! Solid 4. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Once we decided we wanted the vehicle, we needed to arrange a third-party inspection for it. The manager at the used office, whose name I failed to catch, started calling the same garages I had, and used his influence to get us a same-day inspection when those same garages had told me the soonest appointment they had was more than a week away. THAT is some above-and-beyond customer service! They didnt hesitate to drive the vehicle to the garage, either, but I consider that standard. It was making those calls for us that netted this 5. QUALITY OF WORK: So far we are very happy with the condition we got our Tribute in. The only reason this isnt a 5 is they didnt fill up the gas tank before handing it over. OVERALL EXPERIENCE: We are really happy we stumbled across this dealership. Buying from them, we felt confident and comfortable. Excellent service all around.

On Jan 26th I contacted GM Warranty about my 2015 Terrain that had 9860 km on it. The day before (the day that we had a lot of hoar frost in the area) I opened my drivers door and my back windshield exploded. Warranty was very surprised and sympathetic. They started a file and put me in touch with Ron Hodgsons Service dept. Kim was also very surprised and could not see why something like that would not be covered on warranty. She thought that I should have the car towed in under my "bumper to bumper" warranty since there was a chance that more glass could be sent flying while I was driving. Long story short, warranty roadside service did not agree or think they should tow it. Ian, the assistant service manager said he would send his shuttle drivers to pick my car up. After about an hour of the car being at Ron Hodgson, Ian called me and told me that because the car was over a year old, the glass would not be covered. My warranty book was in my glove box so I could not verify this at the time. He said he could send it out to Crystal Glass and have them fix it since that is who does their glass work for them. I asked how much that would be and I was told that it would be $980 plus GST. I told Ian that no I will continue to deal with the GM warranty on this. He said he would have my back window taped up with some plastic and I could pick my car up. I picked my car up the next morning and the back window was taped up with black duct tape - no plastic at all! I checked my warranty book from front to back and could not find anything in there about the glass only being covered for the first year. I called Ian back and asked him where I was supposed to find this information. He said "oh that is just the way it is". I said so I am just supposed to trust you on this and he answered Yes and that the window broke because of something I did to it. I once again contacted GM warranty and was told that nothing could be done if the service department is saying no to this. I asked for this to be put into an email for me and was told that they would not do that, it would have to come from the dealership themselves. I called Crystal Glass and was quoted $479.00 plus GST - $500 less than the dealership quoted me!!! I ended up having at replaced at CrackMasters for $320.00 plus GST. Kinda makes you wonder about other charges for service at Ron Hodgson dont you think? When I told the people at CrackMasters what had happened to my window, they said that they were swamped that week from other people having the same thing happen to them. By the way, we won this car, not sure if I would chose another GM product because of the warranty issues.

Hello there, A few months back, I purchased a pre-owned vehicle at Ron Hodgsons used lot. It was a great experience. As I had mentioned to Bob, "Coach", and Todd, the main reason I had decided that I was interested in giving my business to the Hodgsons Dealership, was because of all of the great comments that Ive heard about buying a vehicle from them, from people in and around St. Albert and Edmonton, since Ive moved here eight years ago....and I certainly wasnt disappointed! Though to be fair and honest, for a short time during the first part of 2012, I was an employee at the Hodgsons new vehicle lot. -But, at the same time, when a few people asked me where I had bought my car from, and I told them that I bought it at Ron Hodgsons, they were kind of surprised that I had no qualms about buying from a place I had used to work at. And in response I would say, not every place you could work at will necessarily be the right fit for you, or the people you work for....but I am sure that at Ron Hodgsons Dealership, especially compared to most places you could go to, theyre really nice, great people to deal with, the prices are fair, and its a good all around experience. I had called up the pre-owned lot and spoke to Bob Robbins. Bob was such a great guide & help through the whole process. When I first came in, it was arranged that Id meet with Todd Schindelka. Todd further showed me some of my vehicle options, was quite helpful, and is a pretty cool guy. Then Coach (Barry Kochanik) took me through his end of my car buying experience, and he was such a great help, and nice to have coffee with. Another thanks to Bob, a really great guy, who even gave me a drive home while I waited for my car; and to all the great staff for putting up with my jokes....including a "passing-by" Adam Martel, whom I had told that I wanted him to "throw-in" his classy burgundy tie, in order for me to sign the deal! Thank you, Chris Boyce.
