Recently returned to AB and required an Out of Province inspection on my mint 08 Toyota 4Runner which passed an OOP just 4 months prior in BC with flying colors...they had the vehicle for 5 hrs. then contacted me to advise they failed it due to my passenger side wiper blade leaving a couple streaks on the windshield (seriously?) then advised my battery wasnt holding the recommended charge...I have never ever had an issue with my battery....I had forgotten an interior light on inside the vehicle the night before and it still started no problem the next morning despite this. I advised them of this and questioned if this could be why the reading was low? They said they would charge the battery and see if it holds...called back in an hr. to advise it was the same and would need to be replaced for $220 + 1/2 hr. labour $64.50...after questioning the price, Frank sarcastically responded, very rude guy, saying ok, how much do you want to pay....I dont have a number in my head, I dont want to change my awesome battery that has NEVER given me an issue...they found me a battery for $149.99 plus same labour, now my costs all in for this bogus inspection was $405 instead of $125 originally quoted to get my vehicle out of what now felt like the pound...I questioned the 1/2 hr. labour to change the battery and high tailed it down to the shop immed. after I hung up the phone...I was there within 15 mins., there my veh was sitting in the parking lot ready to go with Frank sitting at the front desk doing nada...I walked in and said, wow, so much for the 1/2 hr. to change a battery, I thought you said you would call when it was ready to go...my phone hasnt rung, what were you waiting for? He said oh the guys just finished...this guy is a smug sarcastic rip off artist...when reviewing the final bill and questioned the shop supplies charge of $28.43 he stated these were the costs for the plastic they put over your seat and cardboard on the floor...really??? I have never been charged for the bloody plastic they put over your seat...and what kind of plastic costs $28 to cover the seat anyway??? He sat there with his arms crossed and said with a smile all shops charge shop supply fees. When I asked for my old battery back since it works just fine he said he would need to charge me $15 and didnt recommend it. I will NEVER recommend this shop to anyone at anytime, they are rip off artists and will squeeze every dime they can out of you for BOGUS unnecessary repairs and ridiculous extra charges. BRAESIDE AUTO IS EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNETHICAL, STAY AWAY!

When I first looked up this garage, I saw several bad reviews online, so at first was not going to come here. But two different friends had had good experiences at Braeside and recommended that I go there. So I decided to try it out, and I had a great experience. I had to deal with them a couple times, so I met several different members of the staff and they all had great customer service. They even went above and beyond as they came to my house outside of their business hours when I had problem starting a courtesy vehicle (which ended up being my fault, but they were very friendly and courteous). Everything was done really fast, often the same day, and the prices were fair. I chatted with them after I had had all my work done and mentioned how I had been reluctant to come to Braeside at first because of some of the negative online reviews and they said that unfortunately for them, some of the bad reviews are from when the business belonged to previous owners, but because they kept the same name, they are also stuck with the all the old reviews. Normally I don`t write reviews online, but I promised myself I would, because I find so often people only write about their bad experiences, and that`s not fair to businesses, especially when they`re doing their best. I recommend Braeside Automotive 100%!

I unfortunately had a very slow leak in one of my tires, resulting with a completely flat tire in 3 days. Brought it into the local BMW dealer, they wanted me to buy new tires without even taking a look at the cat. Installation fees alone were $70/tire! Not trusting them, I searched for a reliable place nearby, and got it towed to the Braeside Tirecraft. With no prior appointment on a Thursday afternoon, they took a look at my car after a very short wait and diagnosed it within another half hour. Turns out the rim tape was depressing into the spoke holes, creating a sharp edge that was puncturing the tube. They fixed the issue quickly and it hardly cost anything. Have begun to use them on a regular basis and they continue to be the best place Ive been to in Calgary. The staff have been very honest and extremely helpful, never insisting on extra costs or unnecessary purchases while giving me handy advice and reminders. Been in there with tire, transmission and gearbox issues and theyve managed to sort them all extremely quickly and havent had any issues with their work! Highly reccomend them. Good value for money and fantastic staff.

We have been using braeside auto for years and have always been giving them the benefit of doubt when they suggest work to us that is needed. However, this last visit we took our vehicle which we recently purchased from a family member and they told us that we needed all new tires, struts and a serpentine belt. They stressed that the work was urgent. Surprised by this news (as it had an inspection months before when we bought it) we decided to get a second opinion from a trusted family mechanic and everything was just fine. In addition, I previously got them to rotate my tires not knowing that it had locking lug nuts without the key. And they "said" they rotated by tires and charged me for it. Again, when the trusted mechanic looked at it he stated there was no way they rotated them as he could tell by rust on the lug nuts and wear on the tires as my vehicle is all wheel drive. We will never be using braeside automotive again and I would not recommend any to them to anyone. My husband and I are now questioning how much previous work done on our vehicles was needed.

I brought my car here before, and had great service. It has been a couple of years, and the car was acting up again, so I brought it back. They were able to fit it in with little notice, and diagnose and fix the major problem (there were three issues that we had put off for a while). The mechanics fixed the car, and told us that the car was all better. When the vehicle continued to have one of the problems, we brought it back. The customer service at this point really shined. They re-diagnosed the problem, and fixed it within the same day, with it ready to be picked up first thing the next morning. We were told that the mechanic stayed overtime so that we could have our vehicle back so that I could go to work the next day. We were not charged for them to look again to see what else was wrong. I have had problems with other mechanics not standing behind their work, but these mechanics did. My car was repaired, and so far, everything seems right. Thanks so much!
