Worst Place to rent a car from. I rented a SUV from this location for 4 Days in Aug 2017 for BC. i went to the toll road in BC and paid the Toll online. upon returning the car i gave the receipt and told them that i have already paid the toll fees online. The guy on the Counter assured me that i wont be charged for the Toll but if i Do then i should call them to get the Money reimbursed. SO guess what! My CC got charged for the Toll (3 times of what i have already paid). I called the National in Calgary Downtown and Explained them that i was told that i will get my money reimbursed. Now the lady over the phone told me that - " Its not us who charged your CC. Its the BC transportation. You have to Dispute with them" *How can BC Transportation Charger my CC if they dont my CC info. *When they reached out to guys about the toll . why you guys didt tell them that its already paid. * Why did you give my CC info to them. * Why i was promised that i will be Reimbursed if my CC gets Charged. * Whats the Point of paying the Toll Online in BC if you guys will charge on top. You are guys are such a rip off. Will tell all my friends to never go at this location and going to cancel my membership.

Horrible Management & Customer Service: We had booked for a full size Sedan to be picked up early in the morning at 6:30 am before the long weekend 3 weeks before the pick-up date. However, the day before when we called to confirm the pick-up and do the paperwork, they said the car is unavailable to pick up that early and that we can probably only pick it up at 9:30 am but that hed need to confirm that as well. At this point, he asked us to be on hold on the call as there were other customers at the store (as if we arent one), we waited on the call for 15 odd minutes to no avail and had to hang up to try again. Mr. Cameron and Richard tried their best to be as unhelpful as possible and told us theyd get us in touch with the assistant manager for quick resolution. As expected, we were again put on hold for 10 odd minutes after which we decided to hang up and choose another rental agency to book our car. If we could give a negative rating to this agency, we definitely would, because they do a bang-up job of being unhelpful and suck at all the elements of customer service and professionalism.

I booked a car through Nationals website. I requested a midsize car as I was going to be driving others during my work visit to Calgary. The National website / confirmation clearly shows that midsize reflects 5 passenger. When I arrived they informed me that my 2 door, 4 seat Volkswagen Beetle was ready. After inspecting the vehicle and telling them that its not a 5 passenger midsize car they told me that it is indeed a midsize car. This is the main point that earns the 1 star review. This location fed me a blatant lie as it clearly does not have 5 seats. On top of that, they said if I wanted anything else that I would have to drive the Beetle to another location and they would put me in a different car. This is the legwork they should have done before I arrived instead of roll the dice on if I would accept driving the Beetle. I typically find that rental companies are very accommodating and pleasant to deal with - this location was not. Apologies for the rant... I will not be back to this location.

When I arrived at this location at approximately 10:40 am there was 1 person ahead of me in line. Despite this it took 40 minutes before I had my vehicle and then despite the fact I was confirmed for a full size car, was told all they had available that was clean was a van. Also told this was the only vehicle they had left at that time. When I enquired how long it would take to get a clean full size, I was told it would be another 1/2 hour. When I asked how long it would take to get a full size that was not clean, I was told it would still be 1/2 an hour. Hard to believe that these folks could not organize themselves better at 10:40 am on a Sunday, to ensure they had sufficient vehicles washed and ready to go. Find the management of this location on the weekends to be awful.

This is the second time I have rented at this Calgary National location after washing my hands with Budget. I was a long time customer in BC and just moved here on May 1, 2015 but after my Calgary, Alberta experience with Budget I knew I had to find a polite and respectful alternative. I have really enjoyed my service. Both times I have had very genuine and kind interactions with the employees. I feel like a valued customer. I will likely stay with National just simply based on how they treat me.

I had a great experience renting from this location. I was staying in Southwest Calgary and it was easy to get here via transit. The guy at the counter was really friendly and, after finding out were were both from Toronto, we made some good conversation. The vehicle they gave me was clean and very reliable (it got me from Calgary to Edmonton to Drumheller and back). Returning it at the airport was also a breeze. Will definitely rent from this company again!

Arrived at location about one hour earlier than Id scheduled, and there were no cars available, so I was redirected to the another office just a few blocks down the same street. At that location, there was only ONE vehicle available, considerably larger than the class Id reserved. No big deal, but the overall experience left me realizing that theres not much flexibility when dealing with the downtown Calgary locations.

Found out today that National would not honour the reservation rate I got 3 months ago. Wondering about the use of making a reservation with National if they would not honour the rate agreed. I had to pay $300 over the original price to get the car as I had no reaction time, I have to pick up people at the airport this afternoon. Not a happy customer.

Rented a Nissan Murano SUV in Calgary and drove it to Sea-Tac airport in Seattle for the return. The car operated perfectly for our entire 2-week trip. Checking the car out and in ran smoothly at both ends. The Calgary shop on 5th Ave let us keep our suitcases in their office while we grabbed a quick lunch which was much appreciated.

I rented a truck for 11days from National on 5th Ave. It was a great experience all around. Our agent Anjali was fantastic and a big thanks to Omar the manager. I recommend this specific National car rental to everyone. Oh and this place is way cheaper than the Airport National Car rental in Calgary.
