Shifty. I should have learned with my first experience.... In June of 2010, I moved to Calgary from Halifax where we get our vehicles inspected every year! Didnt know a mechanic so the old blonde woman at the Richmond registry office referred me to them as "reputable and trustworthy". Must have been the owners wife pfft. The inspection turned up $2200 worth of repairs that ORegans Toyota in Dartmouth apparently missed (really... a dealer miss repairs?). Whatever, what was I gonna do. Shame on me after that....continued to use them for regular oil changes that somehow never cost less than $500 in other repairs. Final straw was Oct 2011, my winter tires needed balancing and my thermostat was acting up (engine not running at the correct temp while driving and heater blowing cool air at highway speeds). They said they rebalanced my tires and that they checked my thermostat ($125 just to inspect) and there was nothing wrong with it. Drove home and on a newly paved Glenmore Trail and at 80km it felt like I was on an old gravel road. So much for balancing. Also, on the first really cold day...I have no heat and the temp gauge hasnt moved. Took my car to Fountain Tire at Northland mall. Their tire tech said my tire weights didnt look new but just old ones that were shifted. The engine guy said my thermostat was shot and that someone had disconnected one of the dual cooling fans. Watch your step with these guys...

My son recommended Lakeview Automotive after I told him how much the dealer wanted to service both my axles, transfer case and transmision. I stopped in and met Peter and his Dad to get a quote for the same work and the price came in substantially lower , Peter took the time to explain everything in detail. Got it booked in for the next day , was offered a loaner vehicle while the work was being done . Peter called after they started doing the service work and explained that he had checked the recommended service intervals for my vehicle and it wasnt due for a transmision service for another 70, 000km. They also found that my exhaust manifold gasket had a small leak in it that was causing a minor rattle but didnt push me to have it fixed now , instead they recommended waiting unitil the transmision service was done .Work was completed on time and under budget. Great to see that Lakeview has the integrity not to perform service that is not required even though I thought it was required and was willing to pay for it . These guys genuinely care about their customers and know what they are doing

I took my 09 mustang GT in for a complete differential overhaul with 4:10 ring and pinon gears and an upgraded limited slip differential. The customer service was fantastic they took me into the shop to show the cars and work that they do while explaining exactly what they were doing with my car; very informative. I was a little worried that the differential would make a whining noise as is common with ring & pinion changes but it was completely quiet and best of all the car hauls out of corners like you would not believe now and has alot of grip. I have been daily driving the mustang for about 2 months now and still good so far. I definitely recommend taking your mustang here, 25% off all mustangs and they seem to know what they are doing; they did seem a little expensive but you seriously get what you pay for. Thank you Eddie and the mechanics for your business.

These guys talk a good story, however, I wouldnt trust them. Everytime I took my car in there was an issue that cost money. There was the traditional wanting to flush and replace the coolant which every mechanic wants to screw people on. I asked for just an oil change and I get charged for a full inspection - even after that they didnt top off the power steering fluid which was low. They replaced a cabin filter that I had just inspected that was clean and charged $36 labor to do a job that takes less than 60 seconds. The final straw was when they changed over my winter tires and scratched/wrecked my rims. To their credit, they offered to have them fixed, however, I really dont want anything to do with them. Sure would be nice to find an honest mechanic to take my car to.

Had my truck in for a bunch of service that needed done. Was told by Kaltire that they could not do an alignment because the front ball joints needed replaced. Im skeptical of a tire shop doing major service so i took it to lakeview for the repairs. The boys at lakeview called me saying the ball joints are all fine and still have a bunch of life left in them. I was very pleased to hear that. Its nice to know theres still a shop that will only do the repairs if they are necessary. All of the things they did repair were done at a very reasonable price and in a timely manner. Overall i was very happy with everything and would recommend to friends and family.

This place recently changed hands and the new management is absolutely great. To my eye, theyre looking only to do the best possible job for their customers and go out of their way to ensure that happens. Ive had terrible experiences with mechanics in the past; they can be like dentists, always trying to upsell you on something you dont need or diagnosing a problem that really isnt one only because they know you dont have the knowledge or ability to counter their arguments. These folks arent that, theyre just good at what they do. I dont hesitate to recommend them.

My truck is a pain in the butt for anyone to work on. I usually go to places and after one time they never want me to come back cause of the hassle. Not these guys! My truck being a hassle has never hindered them and they have never turned me away. I dont trust shops as I am a girl and i get taken advantage of. so i was always crawling up under my truck after an oil change to be sure it had been done. I have stopped doing that now because i know I can trust the guys at Lakeview to not take advantage of me!

I brought my car here for an inspection after the dealership wanted to charge me to machine my disk brakes. Got the A-Service package (oil change and inspection. Package B would have checked the brakes too but I wanted to cover everything.) The mechanic found no problems with my car and said the dealerships suggestion wasnt needed. Oil change, tire rotation, full inspection/report and they even detailed the inside. Good service done on the day I had it scheduled for. I will be going back.

I brought in a recently purchased car from Kijiji for a full inspection and oil change and I couldnt of been more satisfied with the service that I received. The staff was really friendly and helpful and they paid attention to every detail, making sure all of my fluids were in check, fixing one of my brake lights, replacing the filter and even removing old screws mounting my license plate and putting in new ones. I would recommend and will continue coming to this location.
