I brought my grandads 1969 Chevy C-10 shortbox in that I have been storing at a friends place. It wouldnt start after this brutal winter. Had it towed up there and they disabled the carb, which was surprisingly not cheap. Beyond that, the guy who I checked out with told me it was a hunk of junk and tried to buy it personally for $100 to "get rid of it for you". The truck is a classic and in great shape considering it has never been restored with all original parts. It has been valued at 4000-5000 dollars, and I told him I know this. I know he knew this because he then offered $200 then $500 just before I drove off. This left a very bad taste in my mouth, and because of this incident I wont trust this shop again. At other places, Ive been overcharged and work has been substandard through lack of skill. I can forgive this. However, Knibbe is the only place where Ive been treated like a rube, and its unforgivable. Ive heard the positive comments, but at the end of the day they are a mechanic shop that overcharges for what they do, like most situated in Calgary NW. Nevertheless, compared to their contemporaries in the area Id say they were above average before this, but for the shyster dealings I had with my C-10 trying to bilk me out of my grandads truck.

I rely on Knibbe for great reliable service and good advice on maintaining three vehicles. Over the years Knibbe has performed many repairs for me and they always take the time to explain what needs to be done, what parts will be needed and how long it will take. I have always been charged a fair price and several times they have found a way to do the job in the most economical way that has saved me from paying too much. My wife was stuck on one occasion with a problem that turned out to be a worn out rear wheel bearing. John Knibbe insisted that they fix it on the spot and wouldnt let her drive away until it was done. He felt it would not be safe for her drive away so he made time in the shop to have the repair done with no appointment. I have found that the honest guys at Knibbe can be relied on - especially when I get sketchy recommendations from the auto dealers. When I am in the market to buy a used vehicle, I go to Knibbe to have them check the vehicle over and give me their opinion. In my view, there simply are not enough full service mechanical repair shops that can be trusted. I trust Knibbe.

I tried a number of automotive repair shops before Knibbe, but was usually disappointed with the quality of the work or the customer service; distrust seemed to be an unavoidable fact of life when dealing with car repair shops. I gave Knibbe a try over a decade ago and have always taken our cars to them since. They give good recommendations about what repairs are urgent, and what can be put off for a while. They often take me into the shop to show me the parts they removed, and explain the repairs and why they were needed. When our Durango was nearing end of life they gave honest advice about whether the needed repairs were even worth doing given the age of the vehicle, trying to avoid me spending money unnecessarily. They treat me like a family member, not just a customer. Their downtown location closed a while ago, but the Crowfoot location is just as convenient; I can drop off my car, walk through Timmys for a double double and hop on the C-Train to work. The only downside is I dont get my entertaining chats with Brian the shuttle driver. :-) Id never consider taking my car anywhere else.

I decided to take my 12 year old Ford F150 here after having taken it in the the local Ford dealership to Check the Service Engine light. The dealer informed me that the Catalytic converts on both left and right exhausts had failed and needed to be replaced or the truck would simply stop running. The estimate for the repair? $8,700.00 (yes, I said eight thousand seven hundred dollars!). I went to Knibbe for a second opinion. They diagnosed the problem and confirmed the left Catalytic converters had failed but the ones on the right were functioning normally. The estimated cost "about $1200" I was informed. They did the work, the truck is running flawlessly and although the $1200 hurts, I dont feel like I was taken advantage of at all. I wont bother to comment on the Ford dealers Service Department, I think everyone can draw their on conclusions about that. Knibbe will be my go-to place from now on.

We have an older model Honda Odyssey that we have been taking to Knibbe Auto for over 2 years. We have always found the staff to do top-notch work-- always taking whatever time is needed to explain the diagnosis beforehand, and to explain what has been done after the work. They always keep the old parts too to show us the wear-and-tear that was at fault. On a recent visit, the staff advised us that the work needed may be significant, and agreed when we concluded it may be time to look at purchase of a newer vehicle. I think that many (most?) garages may have directed us toward the work rather than be honest. Knibbe does their job well, charge fair prices, and offer that elusive quality we all hope for in our mechanics- honesty. We are happy to recommend Knibbe to all family and friends, and will not take our vehicles to anyone else. J.P. and Karen Jepp

Knibbe has been my mechanic of choice for years, over the span of a few different vehicles in my family. A few weeks ago I took my vehicle in and had to get a valve replaced, and was back a week later getting another part replaced. (I have a feeling a handful of different issues were caused by a previous carbon build-up in the engine.) Spent a good bit of money to have both the valve and throttle body replaced and my car was still getting unwanted lights, so I emailed the owner John. He took it upon himself--with the help of his right hand man, Joe--to get to the bottom of the issues with my car, and replaced the faulty valve and gaskets free of charge. Truly impeccable customer service, John and his team are total professionals who take pride in their work and they have certainly done more than enough to keep my business. Tremendous! Thanks John & Joe!

After getting a quote from the dealership (which was horrendous), my friend suggested that I try Knibbe Automotive Repair. Shes used them for years and recommended that I should at least get a quote. Im glad I took her suggestion. Not only was the staff friendly and helpful, they also kept me up-to-date about my vehicle and emphasized on what I really needed to fix, and what was okay to leave. I think the price for the work was reasonable and definitely better than what the dealership quoted. I have another appointment just to check on my vehicle for a follow up just to ensure that everything is ok. I have never had this type of service at a repair shop before and I will definitely come back if I ever need to fix my vehicle again. Ill be recommending this place to friends and family. A huge thanks to the wonderful and friendly staff.
