We were looking n the market for a used car after my son wrote off his car. On December 10th we got in contact with Chad. We had about 10k to spend. After looking at a couple of different options we decided on a Dodge Journey. It had already been in the shop and was ready to go. The service was fantastic. By Monday we had noticed the heater wasnt working on the passenger side, drivers side window would get stuck down and not go back up, the radio would randomly shut off and the engine was revving excessively, rattling and not shifting. We called and they told us to bring it back so they could look at it. This is less that 36 hours after we drove it away. After two days in the shop they announced that it was fixed. It had the wrong battery and they topped up the transmission fluid. After talking to Brett and telling him that we had lost faith in this car he told us enthusiastically that he would make it right. He told us to come in the following Saturday at two to look at other options. We show up Saturday at two to the bewildered stares from the people working there. (Mostly Chad who was a super star through this whole thing). They then ask us to meet Chad at the Macleod trail store to look at two Jeep Patriots on Monday. After getting to the dealership we find out they are both sold. After more phone calls (its been over a week now) we get ah hold of Nadeem (the owner). He tells us we cant get our money back but the one jeep didnt sell so we could have that one. Chad and Chaney, both are still being fantastic, drive us down to the Macleod store so we can drive the jeep back to Barlow. On the way back the four wheel drive fault light comes on. Nadeem say he will run it through the shop in the morning and we are good to go. Im sort of thinking that it was already supposed to have been through the shop but Im a patient type of guy. Its now December 21 we havent had the journey since December 12. We get the phone call the jeep needs work, tie rod ends, ball joints, alignment and Im not sure if he said the 4x4 system was fixed or not. We can take the jeep as is and Im assuming with no warranty or we can have the journey back. After the bad luck we had with the journey I figure taking a vehicle without the repairs being done would not be a smart move so we take the journey back. He offers us a one year warranty. We decline the warranty. After the bad luck weve already had with the Journey Ive decided to not fall for the old sunk cost fallacy and cut our losses. We pick the Journey up and will be driving straight to the auction. The sale is on January 21 and I guess I will see what this whole endeavour cost me. There is a bit of a happy ending to this whole story. My son found a nice truck that cost us another 10k (not at the house if cars) and I will take the hit for Journey gate, as we now refer to it, and he only has to pay his Grandma back the original 10k. Chad and Chany were fantastic and if you are planing on spending a higher amount I would recommend you talk to them, just have your mechanic take a look at it first. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- A quick rebuttal to this dealerships reply. The car is still making noise and vibrating under normal driving conditions. I would have considered taking the warranty but it reeked of fraud, making a claim on a vehicle that had a preexisting problem just seems wrong. I have contacted your warranty company to see if this is an appropriate way to use their warranty. You should review the quality of work of your mechanics.

I originally phoned in and inquired about a car I had found online, I was told to come in and come see it. I showed up about 2 hours later to test drive said car and apparently it was "sold". (Which the add is still up.) My sales guy then said that he had the same type of car, same year, but it was a little more, but was reassured he would help me fit it into my budget of 7000 because the car I originally came all the way to see was 5400. In the end I ended up spending 8000. I was then mislead about the warranty on the car being 499, when it was actually 699. The sales man actually came and picked me up in my car because im on foot and we took it back to the dealer ship and signed the warranty papers, and cleared up other paper work. He then handed me the last inspection and all of a sudden it was showing I needed new brakes shoes, tires and there was some wear on the clutch I didnt know about AFTER the car was paid for. Im only mad about this because I was shown a report the day before and everything was clean. Ive done research on the car he sold me and the book value for the 2006 was 4900, I bought for 6000. At this point im just wanting the keys to my car so I can leave. Not only my car is filthy on the INSIDE and outside, the gas tank was empty, and the windshield washer light was on, and it apparently "just came out of the shop." You would expect after paying over 1000.00 in fees and service charges, the least they could do is send you with a filled and clean car. I would never recommend this dealer ship, this was an expensively awful experience and honestly feel taken advantage of. I was advised in the spring that I will need new tires and brakes. Why would I even buy a car from the dealer if I continuously have to replace parts after the fact I was told everything was great on the car. The only positive exchange in this was he adjusted my warranty and kept the price the same... but hardly justifiable for the entire ordeal. 8000.00 for an empty and dirty car, I dont think so.

My buying experience was good. Upon walking into the dealership I was greeted by a friendly team. I sat down with Brandon and he explained everything about buying from house of cars thoroughly, and helped me understand the aspects of buying/financing used. He guided me through the process and recommended me good units based on my wants, needs, budget, and credit. We eventually settled on a 13 Subaru WRX that was a recent trade-in from one of the owners friends. Assuring me that it was in good shape and that their mechanics looked it over, they prepared it and Brandon even drove out to me so that I could fit a test drive into my busy schedule. A couple weeks after ownership, I took it to a trusted shop that specializes in Subarus based on a couple symptoms I was feeling, just to get a general feel of what it needs in case House of Cars mechanics missed anything. It turned out that the car needed a new clutch as it was slipping badly, had a leaking oil pressure sensor, and had a bad rear main seal. I contacted the owner and he did what he could to help me, but it was too late as I had already ordered the parts in to fix it. He wanted to have his mechanics take a look at it again, and was kind enough to offer me a rental and a couple shampoos/washes. I declined, as I just wanted to have the car ready. Overall, my experience was good but the car was not. Brandon was very patient, informative, accommodating and helpful, and will definitely be my go-to salesman from here on out. I wholeheartedly recommend him. Would I buy from House of Cars again? Absolutely. Would I trust their mechanics? No.
