I had a two very negative experiences with Auto-Rite. Most recently I had my brother book an appointment for a vehicle of mine that was having air conditioning issues. My brother booked the appointment as he has taken his own vehicle there many times and we thought they would be less likely to try and pull a fast one on him. When he book the appointment he was originally quoted at approximately 150.00 for the service. I was later called by someone from Auto-rite informing me that the service would cost 300.00 . Upon arrival I was charged 150.00. About an hour or so after I left I received a phone call informing me they had under charged me, and I still owed an addition 150.00. It was just about this same time I had noticed that my air conditioning issue had never been resolved at all. Not eager to give them more money with my problem not being resolved I postponed talking to them for the evening. Auto-rite was then closed for the long weekend. On the following Monday I left for vacation where the lack of air condition caused me to wear a whole in the leather arm rest of my vehicle. While on vacation I was left several threatening voice mails. Auto-rite never resolved my issue and continued to request the additional money. On a separate occasion I was experiencing squealing when I applied my breaks on a different vehicle. I took my vehicle to Auto-rite where they quoted me a huge amount for new callipers. I dont remember the exact amount but I believe it was upwards of 1500.00. I then took my vehicle to another garage for another opinion. They informed me my callipers were fine and that I clearly would only need new brake pads . The work was only a couple hundred dollars. Auto-rite are actually just crooks. Find any other garage to take care of your auto needs .

Honest shop, the best mechanic I have ever dealt with. I took my car in because the car wont start all the time. They diagnosed the problem, ordered the needed part and I was on my way. To be completely honest I thought the diagnosis took too long (1.7 hr at $135/hr), however, I was glad problem was solved, or that what I thought. The next day the car didnt start and I had to tow it to the shop. My car stayed in the shop for about 3 days while they were trying to figure out whats wrong. I started to get concerned about the cost, especially that the car is old. I was given the initial estimate for about $700 (on top of the $500 I paid in the first time). I made peace with that and was ready to pay. For my surprise, Randy from the shop called me, explained that they figured out the problem: when they ordered the needed part in the first time, their part supplier sent them the wrong part but it looked exactly like the needed part (some kind of sensor). I was not charged for labor or diagnosis, I only had to pay about $200 for the cost of insulator parts, I didnt even pay for labor. Great, honest mechanic. Highly recommended.

Hands down the best mechanic in Calgary. They are the most honest and respectable mechanics Ive ever used. Their rates are unbeatable. I recenty took my 2003 Audi A4 1.8T into the Royal Oak Audi dealership in Calgary, Alberta for an oil change. I was called by an Audi service representative that informed me that my rear brakes were in urgent need of replacement. He told me it would cost around $600 total parts and labour. I told him I was going to shop around for a better deal. He explained that he could give me a 15% discount on the job in an obvious attempt to get me to allow them to do the work. I declined and called Autorite ...they quoted me under $300 to do the job over the phone. I took the car to them and they promptly called me a few hours later to inform me that my rear brakes are fine and wont need replacing until probably a year or more down the road, depending on usage. Incredible honesty. Greatly appreciated!

I have taken my vehicle to these guys twice now and both times they have been good. Last time they did an out-of-province inspection. They are thorough and that hurts a bit, but they didnt point out anything wrong that wasnt wrong. Also, it does make your car safer if it complies with provincial regulations. The second time, I came with a couple of things wrong with my car that they fixed for cheaper than I expected and cheaper than I told them I thought it would be. I think it shows honesty on their part that they didnt take advantage of my ignorance in this situation. They also honored a fix of something they had done on my last visit. tl;dr: good mechanics who dont nickle and dime you.

Ive dealt with a few mechanics over the years, and none as good as these guys. Their rates are fair, theyre courteous, and professional. My vehicle is fixed in a timely manner as well whenever I need to bring it in. Im no "expert" on vehicles by any means, but I have a fair understanding of whats what; If theres an issue, they explain it exactly as it is, with no BS. I dont know about the other reviewers on here, ive never had an issue with anyone, or anything from Autorite. These guys work with you for sure. Definitely recommend.

Amazing service! They explained what was wrong and explained how they fixed it. I highly recommend people to go here, you will not be disappointed! I live in Edmonton, AB and my car broke down when I was visiting my sister for the weekend. It was a Saturday and majority of the repair shops were either closed or had no mechanics available. Luckily this place took my car in and fixed it on that day! Ask for Tony! He is amazing! If it wasnt for Tony I would have been stranded in Calgary! so thanks tony!

I received an outrageous quote for recommended maintenance that totalled nearly 4000$. None of the work was directed toward the motor, transmission, or breaks. I was in shock and ultimately told them I could not afford the work. I had all the work done at another place in town and the bill from them was 900$ all based off of the recommendations from their mechanics. I will not return here ever because of the inflated upsetting of things that you dont necessarily need.

I took my BMW to these guys for a check engine light. Not only did they discover the problem, which was actually still covered by the warranty on work originally done at the dealership, they called the dealership and discussed the issue with them and the car was fixed! The cost of the diagnosis was fair and they went out of their way to help me get the work done under warranty even though it meant that they did not do the repair. We will be taking all of our vehicles here!

We have 2 Toyota vehicles that are > 10 years old, so we have some minor issues once and a while. We tried the other places in NW Calgary but we found them expensive and just to do the investigative work it would cost $100. Then we came to AutoRite and they did the investigative work for free or very minimal. The prices are great and they do a thorough job...So I cannot complain. The staff are friendly and the work was done in a timely manner. So I would recommend them.
