Disclaimer:This review is for Subaru City , but Im also going to post it here because Subary Rally is where I ended up buying my car from. If youre considering buying a Subaru ask for Robin Hunt when youre visiting Subary Rally on Gateway Blvd in Edmonton. Shes without a doubt their best sales person. Shes made my car purchase an absolute breeze. Highly recommended! So here is my experience with Subaru City in Edmonton . I drove from Cold Lake , AB with my gf last Saturday ( April 11th 2015) to see if I could test drive a new 2015 WRX. I show up there and park my car. We start walking around the lot and we are walking around for a good 20 mins until I spot this one WRX with the exact trim I want. My gf points out some features in the car that Im looking for. From the corner of my eye I see the salesman approaching us and the first words out of his mouth are and I quote " Yea and did you noticed its got a sold sign on it ? " Immediately after hes said that I just want to leave but I decide to stay for a bit longer because hey, I REALLY want to test drive this car. So anyways he starts making small talks and doesnt really introduce himself until were 10-15 mins into the conversation. I ask him if I can go test drive one of their WRXs and he hesitates for a bit. Then asks me for my drivers licence. No issues there. He comes back , hands me my DL and asks me if I have a trade in. I tell him possibly. As soon as I tell him that its a dodge Avenger 2008 , he starts chuckling and basically telling me theres no way Ill be able to trade it in . At that point Im boiling on the inside but again I REALLY want to drive this car. He asks me if I still owe anything on it and I tell him no. Then he tells me we might be able to work something out. So were getting ready to step inside the car. He does a very basic show and tell around the car. Did I mention hes got the look of someone that has absolutely no desire to be there ? We get on the road and then he starts asking me what kind of trims Im looking for , colors and options. He cuts me off half way and basically tells me there is no way hell have one in stock anytime soon. So at that point Im like, this guy doesnt want to sell me a car at all. We go back to the dealership and sit down in his office. Hes going through what looks like an inventory stocks and keeps telling me its not looking good. I look around his office, hes got a whole bunch of awards. At that point Ive got a pounding headache. I tell him were gonna go drive around for a bit. I call up a friend that has done business with Subaru Rally on Gateway and meet him there. We walk in and right away I explain to one of the sales lady what happened at the other dealership. She cant believe what Im saying. We sit down , shes extremely friendly and professional. We hammer out the details and 2 hours later weve got the bills of sales written down and now Im just waiting until they can find me my new 2015 Subaru WRX and I couldnt be more excited . Its unfortunate that I had such a bad experience at the first dealership because it has come highly recommended from several co workers. I know both dealerships are owned by the same person but I will never set foot in there again.

Well, perhaps one of the most pathetic attempts at purchasing a vehicle ive had to date. I took a test drive on a 2011 nissan titan. Loved it. Literally was ready and willing to take it home. After my test drive(which wasnt long because there was no gas at all beyond the empty range) I parked the vehicle and gave it a quick visual inspection myself(decently mechanically inclined). I came back in to speak with my sales guy to get this thing wrapped up. One of my first questions "was this vehicle inspected, and how were the results?" I was told yes it did and everything was great. I then expressed what I found, leaking diff, leaking transfer case, back up sensors not working, passenger window not working, etc etc. Nothing major but definitely repairs that hold a cost. Long story short because this sales guy didnt know which way a bolt threaded he took my notes of this vehicles needs to the sales manager( manager? 17 years experience but yet wasnt there to help a clearly lost employee) and came back with nope price wont budge at all but better yet no advice for his sale guy to deal with a person in a manner thats not to be little Even more typical sales tactic " if we complete repairs would you pay the price?" my response yes! how ever we have now established the vehicle needs repairs and they could take care of them. My issue being, i am now supposed to trust a mechanic that inspected this vehicle and deemed it perfect? Ha! if im supposed to take my "honest" sales guy word, as i did, why would one ever want there car fixed by a man who cant spot the basics. I said if your willing to get these repairs done lets settle. Ive already lost the trust in your service team but perhaps as men to men we can come to an agreement or number and i will worry about the repairs based on my honest salesmen telling me what the service team had "inspected" Mr. Sales manager; unfortunately you didnt have time for me this day and i encourage you to contact me. Perhaps youve lost one sale, but here is my second offer. Employment. No base salary, all commission, part time and I will still keep your customers happy and maybe actually finalize a sale when it lands in your lap. your full time staff has shown how completely incompetent they are, but not even that, the complete lack of effort was super discouraging and unfortunatley that leaves an impression for an entire dealership. Sougata(salesmen); tip, take your customers concerns to your sales manager and fight for them; its your job! you make money to create sales! if you can seal the deal as this was sooo easy to do guess what you get?! You get paid sir, you actually make a commission. But be the stereotypical used car salesmen that thinks they can 6 pack a person you will never make a sale. Move more make more sir. You showed probably the biggest lack of effort Ive ever dealt with. Not to mention the lack of mechanical ability of you was present, which is fine most are not. Just dont attempt to fill a mans head with complete bullshit when you made it clear you couldnt even remember your own story. Bettter to ask for help then have someone think you hold no intelligence.

I have never witnessed a more dysfunctional dealership, and I visited three and dealt with two finance departments before I bought my car several years ago. The sales person we dealt with was fine—nice, not pushy, answered our questions, etc. It was everything that ensued after we test drove the car my significant other wanted to buy. He signed off on 0.9% financing on the car; two days later, he found out he didnt qualify, so we added my name as a cosigner—and were still denied. As we found out when we went to pick up the car, this special financing is through Toyotas parent company and not a bank, and we were told by the Finance Manager (Im guessing this was Curtis, as we didnt deal with Nicole, but since he didnt introduce himself, I have no idea) that this is normal and that even doctors have been denied. Which made me wonder: if a doctor, who makes a very large sum of money per yer, can be denied financing, how is anybody else supposed to be approved for financing? In the end, my significant other qualified for financing through a bank, but the rate jumped to 5%. The only good that came out of this was that the dealership knocked off more money on the price of the car because of the unnecessary stress it caused us. I should note the dealership sold us the car (we put down the down payment with the promise the finance department would secure the loan) without actually making sure we could buy the car. It shouldve been the other way around—make sure we can finance the car we want *before* we put the money down on it and go forward, as was the case when I bought my Mazda. And we put that down payment down based on the fact it would be 0.9% financing because we were given no indication that it was common to be denied. Then, when we came in to pick up the car (and also do the actual paperwork to secure the loan), we had to deal with the finance manager. He tried to sneak in an extended warranty. He showed us what the warranty covered, but the only reason we realized something was fishy was when he told us there was a $250 deductible, at which point I asked if that was the base warranty and he admitted it was an extended warranty that increased the monthly payments by $20+, on top of the deductible. His rationale was that if the turbo breaks, its an $8000 fix and you only have to pay $250, and he told us the shop doesnt make its money off of just oil changes. Of course it doesnt, but if the car is going to break down and need $8000 of repairs in the first 3-5 years of its life, why are we even buying it then? If my SO hadnt been in love with the car, we wouldve walked away. I didnt think I could be more unimpressed with a dealership after dealing with Park Mazda, but Rally Subaru managed to prove me wrong. Ive considered buying a Subaru as my next vehicle, but it definitely wont be from this dealership.
