I dont even have to walk through the door to know that this business cannot be trusted. I phoned in for a quote to replace my brake pads and replace my left passenger motor mount on a 2002 Sunfire. I was quoted a price to replace pads and rotors and told they "recommend you replace your rotors every time you replace your brakes". I have been driving and managing vehicle maintenance for 25 years. I have worked for mechanics and have mechanics in the family. At no point, ever, has ANY place given me this piece of bogus information - and even a google search confirms that industry standard has not changed. The only reason you would need to replace a rotor every time you change your brakes is if you put cheap rotors on in the first place. I was told that "if I absolutely knew my rotors were fine then they didnt need to be replaced" But only after I objected to the idea that rotors must be replaced every time you change brakes. In other words - if you dont know any better.... As for the motor mount, I was informed that this was no charge - but only because they need to look at why the motor mount needs to be replaced. Normally they would charge a diagnosis fee, but because they are doing other work they didnt need to for this. Motor mounts do tend to go in high mileage vehicles. Given the first piece of crappy advice on the brakes, if I walked through their door with a knocking engine I wouldnt believe them if they told me I threw a rod. Treat this company with a very high dose of skepticism. As for me, Ill find a back yard mechanic. Theyre cheaper and I already know Im not likely to find them trustworthy. And in response to your response... that is absolute bullshit! She specifically told me that you recommended they always be done. There is a difference between "your brakes are this and if rotors are required it is this" and "we always recommend that they be done whenever you change your brakes." The first covers your butt and avoids surprises as you claim you simply wanted to do. The second recommends unnecessary repairs always be done. I asked about a motor mount getting fixed. She did not say they usually get replaced. I ASKED for that. She said no charge to inspect it and see what was causing it. Had she simply been telling me that they usually get replaced she would have been able to give me a quote for replacing it. That is not what happened. The easiest way to satisfied customers is honesty. I did not get that. Neither is there any in the response to this review. You are liars no matter how you are now spinning it. And as a final note to your added portion of your response - there is nothing "vulgar" in this review. Nor has there ever been. Disliking a poor review does not make that review "vulgar", no matter how much you dislike it.

There is so much about this experience worth sharing, I dont think I can do it justice...but Ill try. We have a 2011 Grande Caravan with 55,000 Km; beginning from 20,000 Km, the brakes started having issues, which Chrysler refused to fix because as an expendable part, brakes arent covered by their warranty. This time when the rear brakes hatched, the repair was going to cost $1500.00; we dont have that kind of cash! A very good friend of ours suggested that we take it to Good News Auto, and told us that the mechanics are honest and have integrity; so we did. From the start, everyone treated us with a whole lot of respect; while waiting, we were seated in a comfortable room with a television and a fresh cup of coffee. Their estimate came in a couple hundred dollars less than the dealer, and to top it off, they are a NON PROFIT shop, and they offer some programs to help lower income people afford their repairs. Have you ever heard of a mechanic shop that helps you pay your bill?! Of course you havent...until now. We were introduced to what is called "The Jump Start Program"; this program is a partnership between the shop and some local churches; you supply proof of your income and some other financial information, then if you qualify, the church and the shop may pay some of your bill! We were completely blown away by the amount that was offered to us...we paid about 1/3 of the actual cost! In addition to the incredible financial assistance; without which, we wouldnt have our vehicle back on the road, G.N.A. also offers volunteer opportunities and a program that helps you save for future repairs; they match whatever funds you put into an account with them (with certain guidelines), then when you need repairs in the future, you will have some money stashed away to help with the cost. This Christian based business really gives back to the community! Whenever somebody is in a decent financial position and can afford their repairs, any money that would be considered profits goes back into the jump start program to help less fortunate people. Jesus said that his disciples could be identified by the fact that they love one another...the staff at G.N.A. really love people; they genuinely care about each person that comes to their shop....disciples?...maybe...definitely people that I want to know! Well; as I said, I couldnt do the experience justice; if you want a mechanic shop where you are treated with kindness and respect, where you arent treated like youre a walking ATM, but quite the contrary, then Good News Auto should be the only mechanic shop on your rolodex! Overall, we are feeling very blessed that we found Good News Auto; thank you everybody at the shop for everything!

This review is WELL overdue, as I have had nothing be exceptional experiences with this shop over the years. When I first moved here to “the big city” three years ago, it was daunting looking for a reliable mechanic that I could trust. After lots of research and reading of reviews, I chose Good News Auto not only because of their great reviews, but because of their obvious generosity sharing their company profits to help those who cannot afford to pay for repairs. The staff is very knowledgeable and everyone is extremely friendly. Never once have they disappointed!! I had gone to another well known shop for a completely different issue, and was told that my back struts needed to be replaced really bad, and that my front struts were so horrible they had no idea how they were even still working. (I had no issues when driving that would suggest 4 bad struts). My first visit to Good News Auto, Chris brought me out to the shop and physically showed me everything on my car that needed work. He told me that my back struts were perfectly fine (Still havent had an issue with them years later), and pointed out that while one of my front struts was starting to show some wear the other was fine. He said it would need to be taken care of, but that I could get another 6 months out of it no problem. With the other repairs I needed to perform, this was great news. It is frustrating that so many shops will take advantage and we are none the wiser as we spend our money on unnecessary repairs... I have been going to them ever since, and always feel that I can trust them 100%. They don’t nickel and dime you, and to say they go above and beyond to help you save money is an understatement. They charge real time instead of book time, and I have never gone back to pick up my car that the final cost was not spot on, or often below the quoted cost. They have even done several extras at no charge that other shops rip you off for. They are just all around great people and this is a great shop. I recommend Good News Auto to anyone who will listen to me. Lol. I cant say enough good things. Thanks all. :-)
