I’m not sure when service managers for dealers started to have to meet “quotas” but I don’t like it. This would mean that it’s in the best interest of the service manager and of course the dealers to inform their customers they need servicing on their vehicle when they don’t. I found out this is happening at at least 3 major dealers in Edmonton with my vehicles, but there is probably more. I happened to witness it first hand when a large Chrysler dealer fired the Service Manager pretty much in front of me because he did not “meet quotas”. I went to one Chrysler dealer for an oil change, they sold me on a “Brake Service”. At the time, I assumed I truly needed it, so I said sure. The very next oil change, different Chrysler dealer, 5,000kms later, I need the same brake service done. When I told them I just had it done last oil change, their response was, “Oh, ok, then you need this…. (you can pretty much inject any part or service at this point, I’m not buying it)”. Bottom line, “Don’t trust any dealer”. I decided to try using a Quick Lube facility on one of my oil changes. The mechanic (not really sure they are a mechanics or not) went under my truck, came back on top and showed me my differential oil. First, the color of the oil was exactly the same between my front and rear differentials, almost silver in color, which indicates water intrusion. I had just watched the MarketPlace show where they found a Quick Lube was performing services that were not required, so, I was skeptical and did not change the diff oil. I later found out, although my diff oil was slightly burnt, and probably a good idea to be changed, it was nowhere near a silver color. Bottom line, maybe you can trust the Quick Lube for an oil change, because you can see them doing it, do not trust them on anything else. Which brings me to Gord, and Best Choice Automotive. What a welcome relief to hear the absolute truth when it comes to what your vehicle needs. I always tell people, I don’t mind paying for vehicle repairs if I need them, I have a problem getting repairs done when there is still life left on the parts or fluids and the repairs are being done because someone has to meet their “quotas”. Gord and his mechanics were so truthful and honest. They kept the parts for me to look at when I picked up my truck. They walked me through the repairs and the cost, and they even went the extra mile by ordering more superior parts with a lifetime warranty because the Chrysler parts were not available. Gord and his mechanics also made sure I came back a few days later for some follow up work and any feedback I had. So, if anyone is looking for a trustworthy place to bring their vehicle and tired of the getting the run around by the dealers, I highly recommend Gord and his mechanics at Best Choice Automotive.

I took my vehicle into Best Choice Auto for an oil leak repair. They quickly found another repair and another. I did not want to pay for any other repairs than the oil leak. I was on a budget and wanted to stay within a price range. Josh, the customer clerk convinced me that another repair was needed. I agreed and set the limit at that. Done. My aging, half blind mother had offered to call in the payment for me. When she did, Josh pressured her into thinking that I needed another $400.00 in repairs in order for my car to be safe. Of course, my mom was worried and wanted to pay the extra amount even though it would create hardship for both of us. These extra repairs did not need to be done. I felt he was simply conning an old lady for a quick buck. When I told him I only wanted the oil leak fixed, he insisted that I should really get it done. I felt annoyed, bullied, and frustrated. He began emailing my mom and trying to coerce into paying for these unwanted repairs. My instructions were clear yet it required several calls to sort out what I wanted and what the auto body shop wanted me to want. Josh at Best Choice Auto does exactly what vehicle owners fear an auto shop will do. Find a bunch of necessary repairs that arent necessary or what you budgeted for. I was grateful to the owner for his professional intervention in the end. He provided quality customer care and a professional approach. He gave me a credit for the dye/wash and only completed and charged for the repairs I asked for. Were I to have dealt with Gord or someone like him in the first place, I would have had a more positive overall experience with this auto repair shop.

Piece of mind comes into play when I take my 2004 Nissan Sentra to be pampered at Best Choice Automotive. Gord and his staff are the product of a past generation where trust, honesty and caring are foreign too so many business. At first it was a matter of convenience.. however over the last ten years convenience was not the issue it was the excellent workmanship and dependability that has me coming back year after year. I live in the West End, and now work at APS located in the new district in Winderemer. I depend on cabs and good friends for shuttle service while my car is having its check up....I could go down the street, but I will not. This morning I arrived very early and so did Gord@ 7:20 am, he opened his doors, processed the paper work and within a few minutes I was on my way to work. No Stress.... After closer examination and scrutiny the right tire rod did not warrant replacement as earlier indicated. Alignment to the wheels was undertaken and completed. Gord and his staff took care of what was needed... nothing extra.. I am a happy camper and I will be back year after year...with my Nissan and whatever car comes next. Many Thanks Urszula. J. D. I was referred to Best Choice Automotive by a friend after trying other repair shops. To my greatest surprise I left there with nothing but the best feeling. Im currently in Edmonton from Fort McMurray following the evacuation process. I needed to get my Car looked after due to some cracking sound from the engine. Upon my arrival to Best Choice, the customer service was peerless. Josh and Ron were fantastic at answering my questions and providing possible solutions including doing an oil change to ensure my car was running smoothly. I was very pleased with their friendliness and high level of service. The assistance and support provided was overwhelming. To say the least, they met me right at the point of my needs. Not only did they put my car at the best state possible, they told me the services was 100% free of charge. I was shocked and gazed at them for a while in disbelief because I wasnt expecting so much love and support. Ill not only be using Best Choice for all my repair needs; Ill recommend them to anyone in an outside of Edmonton. Youll not be disappointed. God bless

Got a quote from kal tire to get 2 control arm and ball joints repaired on front end of my car but was really upset about how much it was going to cost me. So I looked up some mechanics in Edmonton as I am not from here and found the really good reviews of Best Choice. I called and talked to Gord and asked him how much it would cost to get my car repaired, and without having looked at the vehicle he gave me an estimate and told me to bring it in in 2 days so they could have a look. The front guy was very nice and assuring that they were going to do a good job. When they told me their estimate it was SIGNIFICANTLY less expensive than kal tire and they could do it that same day. I picked it up the next morning and I feel very confident that they did what was needed and they were very respectful and helpful. Definitely would go back if I need to and definitely would recommend. Thank you best choice!
